Geothermal aquapark and ski resort in Oravice, below the Western Tatras near the Polish border, where every pool is filled with geothermal water at 28 to 38 °C.
About
The Meander resort lies in the mountain village of Oravice, on the Slovak side of the border with Poland, below the Western Tatras. An aquapark and a ski park share the site; the lower cable-car station is 50 metres from the aquapark entrance.
The water
The operator says all the pools are filled with 100% geothermal water. The springs rise in the glacial Bobrovecká valley, and pool temperatures run from about 28 to 38 °C.
Pools
The indoor relaxation pool is held at 38 °C, with wide steps on both sides, a ramp for guests with reduced mobility, underwater seats, jets and an underwater spring. Outside are a relaxation pool, a recreation pool and a wave pool. There are also a senior zone, a jacuzzi, a children's pool, a children's play corner and a sauna. In summer three slides open: two gentle slides and the Duo Racer, a two-lane racing slide with a timer.
Visiting
Rooms and apartments are on the resort grounds, and the Meander Restaurant is in the main aquapark building next to reception. In summer the resort runs a bike park with MTB and MountainCart hire; in winter there are over 12 km of ski slopes.
