Virágfürdő

Virágfürdő is a thermal bath and aquatic complex in Kaposvár, in Hungary's Somogy county in the Southern Transdanubia region. The site brings together an indoor experience bath, an outdoor strand, a certified medicinal thermal bath, a swimming-pool complex and a wellness area, and it is presented as a destination for the whole family.

The water

The complex is supplied by thermal water that rises from a depth of more than one kilometre, stated as 1,050 metres, and reaches the surface at 55.5 °C. Its total dissolved mineral content is described as substantial, at 3,150 mg/l, and the water is noted as being particularly rich in iodide, bromide and metasilicic acid. According to the site, the medicinal water is effective for musculoskeletal conditions, the treatment of accident injuries, rehabilitation after neurosurgical operations, and gynaecological treatments.

Pools

The pool selection spans competitive, recreational and therapeutic use. Swimming facilities include a 25-metre indoor pool at 27 °C, a 50-metre outdoor pool at 26 °C, and the Csik Ferenc competition pool at 27 °C. Therapeutic and specialist pools include a teaching pool at 30 °C, a physiotherapy pool at 32 °C, and a weight-bath pool at 36 °C, alongside medicinal thermal pools. For families and relaxation there are a children's pool and a family pool at 30 °C, indoor and outdoor warm-water pools at 30 °C, and indoor and outdoor whirlpools, the outdoor one running at 36–38 °C. A plunge pool and a Kneipp pool are both kept at 15 °C.

Wellness & saunas

The renovated wellness area offers Finnish saunas in aroma and standard versions, an infrared sauna and a steam cabin, together with a programme sauna with a capacity of up to 40 people. Additional facilities include a salt room, an ice-slush well, a Kneipp courtyard with dry and wet walking paths, and relaxation areas. Sauna masters carry out special infusions several times a week.

Medical department

A dedicated medical department (Gyógyászat) provides treatments including physiotherapy and water aerobics, electrotherapy, therapeutic swimming and BEMER therapy, and runs an "exercise on prescription" programme.

Visiting

Opening hours vary by section. The thermal bath is open daily from 9:00 to 20:00, and the three swimming pools operate Monday to Friday from 6:00 to 21:00 and at weekends from 6:00 to 20:00. The medical department is open Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 16:20 and closed at weekends.
