Túrkeve Termál

Túrkeve Termál (full name Túrkeve Termál- és Élményfürdő, meaning thermal and adventure bath) is a spa complex in Túrkeve, in eastern Hungary. The site states it covers a landscaped park of almost 5 hectares and brings together indoor and outdoor pools, a wellness area, medical treatments, and on-site accommodation. It presents itself as a family-friendly venue serving equally those seeking healing from the medicinal water, relief from summer heat, sport, or general relaxation.

The water

According to the bath, the medicinal water is an iodide, sulphide, sodium-hydrogencarbonate water with a significant metasilicic acid content. It rises from a well of 2,351 m depth at a temperature of 72 °C, and its analysis lists sodium at 1,046 mg per litre. The site indicates the water for chronic rheumatic, joint, skin and gynaecological conditions, for rehabilitation after operations, and for the prevention and treatment of chronic musculoskeletal problems. It also notes a role in injury rehabilitation, stating that the water can speed the healing of injuries and fractures.

Pools

The bath groups its pools across a covered adventure bath, an outdoor area, and dedicated medicinal and therapy pools. Several are described as filled with the thermal water:

• Indoor medicinal pool: 36–38 °C, 90 cm deep, 10 m × 10 m, open year-round; under-14s admitted only on medical advice, with a suggested bathing time of 20 minutes.
• Indoor medicinal „sitting” pool: 36–38 °C, 90 cm deep, 6 m × 2.7 m, year-round.
• Outdoor medicinal pool: year-round, 36 °C and 38 °C (each ±1 °C) on two sides, 95 cm deep, 12 m × 8 m, with a shaded seating-bench island and experience features including a whirlpool, water spout, air-injection geyser and neck massage jet.
• Swimming pool: an elevated 6-lane pool for swimmers only, open spring to autumn, 27 °C (±1), 2.4 m deep, 33.3 m × 17.85 m.
• Adventure pool: open spring to autumn, 30 °C, 30–130 cm deep, with a 733 m² water surface and features such as slides, a whirlpool, water spouts, a current channel and a geyser.
• Beach pool (indoor): 28 °C, 120 cm deep, 20 m × 10 m.
• Children's pool: 34 °C, 40 cm deep, 7.6 m × 4.6 m, with an elephant see-saw and a children's slide.
• Slide pool and whirlpool pools: a slide pool (34 °C, 70 cm) plus lying and sitting whirlpool pools (34 °C) fitted with back-massage jets.
• Kneipp walking pools: 18 °C and 36–38 °C, 25 cm deep.

For medically supervised use, the site lists a therapeutic gymnastics pool (34 °C, 120 cm deep, 3 m × 5 m) and a weight-bath pool (34–35 °C, 120 cm deep, 6 m × 1.5 m), both available only for prescribed treatments in the presence of a physiotherapist or medical masseur.

Wellness and saunas

The wellness offering described by the bath includes saunas, a steam cabin, an infrasauna, and three plunge pools (two at 18 °C and one at 36–38 °C, 120 cm deep) alongside the saunas. There is also a Himalaya salt room with a salt wall lit from behind, and treatments such as massages and pedicure. The site notes that the sauna and steam cabin were temporarily out of operation at the time of writing.

Medical services

As a medicinal bath, Túrkeve Termál offers rheumatology and physiotherapy services and the health-insurance-supported bath cure available twice a year, together with prescribed medical treatments and lymphatic massage. It states that it accepts the SZÉP card and works with health funds.

Facilities for families and visitors

The covered adventure bath is described as family-oriented, with a paddling and children's pool, a children's slide, a two-storey playhouse on the upper level and a baby-and-mother corner with a nappy-changing room. On-site accommodation is offered in apartments, a hotel, cabins and a campsite, and the bath reports restaurants and buffets on the premises. Leisure options listed include tennis courts, sand football, beach handball, volleyball and bicycle hire, and the venue also hosts events in its Platán Hall.
