Cserkeszőlő gyógyfürdő

Cserkeszőlő gyógyfürdő is a certified medicinal thermal bath and medical centre in Cserkeszőlő, Hungary (Fürdő utca 25). The grounds cover roughly 7.5 hectares of landscaped lawns and plantings, combining an open-air beach bath, an indoor experience bath, a sauna island, wellness rooms and a therapy centre that provides insurance-supported (TB) treatments.

The water

The site classifies its supply as alkaline-chloride and hydrogen-carbonate water belonging to the brown, iodine-bearing medicinal waters. It is described as a sodium hydrogen-carbonate water containing fluoride (2.5 mg/l) and metasilicic acid (68 mg/l H2SiO3), with total dissolved solids ranging from 229 mg/l to 1675 mg/l depending on the well drawn from.

Medical indications and therapy

According to the medical centre, thermal cures here are recommended for conditions including degenerative spine and joint disease, chronic sciatica, post-surgical rehabilitation, osteoporosis-related pain, chronic gynaecological and urological conditions, arterial narrowing and psoriasis. The therapy programme lists thermal bathing, mud packing, weight (traction) baths, carbonated baths, medical massage, underwater jet massage, group aquatic therapy, physiotherapy, electrotherapy, phototherapy, ultrasound, laser therapy and magnetic therapy. Resident specialists include rheumatology (weekday mornings) and cardiology (Saturdays).

Pools

The complex lists nineteen pools in total. The open-air beach bath groups together thermal pools numbered I to V alongside a swimming pool, wave pool, teaching pool, children's pool and experience and wellness-experience pools. The thermal pools are shallow (about 0.9 m) and warm: Pool I is stated at 39°C, Pools II and III at 36–38°C, Pool IV at 34–36°C and Pool V at 35–37°C. The indoor experience bath adds therapeutic pools (1 m deep, at 35–36°C and 36–38°C), a jacuzzi pool (1 m, 33–35°C), an experience pool (1–1.2 m, 30–32°C), a children's splash pool (0–0.6 m, 31–33°C) and a training pool (1.2 m, 28–30°C), together with a giant slide, whirlpool and a covered pool with water circulation. Basement changing facilities are stated to accommodate 1,200 people.

Sauna island and wellness

The sauna island offers an infrared sauna, a Finnish sauna, an aroma cabin and a cryosauna operating between −120°C and −170°C for sessions of 60–180 seconds. Wellness offerings include a Bochnian therapeutic salt room lined with salt from Bochnia in Poland, available in daily time slots, and a range of massages (Swedish/European, therapeutic and manual therapy).

Facilities

The three-storey, Mediterranean-styled service buildings house a covered restaurant and cafeteria, gallery-level relaxation loungers and children's play areas both on the gallery of the winter bath and in the pool zone. Outdoor sports facilities include beach volleyball, beach handball and beach football courts. Chairs, loungers and bathrobes can be rented on site.

Visiting

The bath states it is open every day of the year, with the beach bath running daily from 8:00 to 20:00 (cashier and pool-clearing times earlier) and the sauna island open 10:00–19:30. Full open-air operation runs 1 May to 30 September, while some pools operate year-round. Cash, bank cards and SZÉP cards are accepted. Admission is 100 HUF for children under 7, and a full-day sauna pass is stated at 2,800 HUF.
