Tiszavasvári Strandfürdő

The Szentmihályi Gyógyfürdő in Tiszavasvári is a medicinal thermal bath (gyógyfürdő) in eastern Hungary, located at Nyárfa utca 4 (postal code 4440). Its facilities are spread across a roughly 12-hectare green area and are built around a curative thermal spring, which the bath supplements with therapeutic services, leisure pools and a campsite.

Thermal water

According to the bath, its water is drawn from a depth of 1,175 metres and emerges at a source temperature of 65°C. It is described as an iodine-bromine medicinal water (jódos-brómos gyógyvíz) with a total dissolved mineral content of about 10,924 mg/l. The stated composition includes sodium (around 3,900 mg/l), chloride (around 5,780 mg/l) and bicarbonate (around 880 mg/l), along with potassium, calcium, bromide, iodide, fluoride, boron, silica, iron, lithium, sulphide and phosphate.

Medicinal use

The bath states that its water is used chiefly for joint and musculoskeletal conditions, and attributes to it anti-inflammatory, vasodilatory and metabolism-improving effects. On the medical side it offers therapeutic exercise (gyógytorna), physiotherapy (fizioterápia) and balneotherapy treatments (fürdőgyógyászati kezelések).

Pools and facilities

The bath lists a set of pools that includes a paddling pool, an amoeba-shaped thermal pool, a further thermal pool, a Kneipp pool, a wave pool, two children's pools, a teaching pool and a swimming pool. The bath is open Monday to Sunday from 09:00 to 20:00. Its published prices are quoted in Hungarian forint and include daily adult tickets (4,500 HUF), student/senior tickets (3,850 HUF) and reduced afternoon rates, together with family packages, group and multi-visit passes, season tickets, a night-bathing ticket and camping fees.
