Thermal Hotel Visegrád Gyógyfürdő

Seven pools are fed with water carrying Hungary's gyógyvíz designation, granted by the national public health authority. The bath belongs to the Thermal Hotel Visegrád and shares its sauna, steam room, children's area, wellness area, restaurant and outdoor pools. Open daily from 8:00 to 21:00.

The water comes from a well in the Lepence valley, sunk in 1973 to 1,302 metres, which the operator says yields water of 39.5 °C of mineral-water quality. The site classes it as a calcium–magnesium–hydrogen-carbonate water, low in alkalis and high in free carbon dioxide, and names fluoride and iron among its trace constituents. Its published indications are muscle and nerve pain, musculoskeletal disease, biliary, renal and vascular spasm, and allergic complaints.

The pools and the saunas

The Lepence Spa covers close to 3,000 m², and the operator lists seven pools, all working through the year apart from the Acapulco summer lido. Its own table gives the two thermal pools at 36–38 °C and 34–36 °C, the adventure pools and the children's pool at 30–33 °C, the outdoor swimming pool at 25–27 °C and the Acapulco pool at 29–32 °C. The sauna park holds three saunas between 78 and 90 °C, a steam cabin at 44–46 °C and a scented one at 38–40 °C, none of them open to children under 14.

Getting in

Outside visitors are admitted, not only hotel guests: the operator states that the pool cash desk serves them from 08:00 to 19:30, the bath itself being open 8:00 to 21:00, with ticket sales pausing between 11:30 and 12:00 and from 16:30 to 16:40. It also asks visitors to check how busy the bath is before setting out, because the bathing section can close at any point in the day when it fills up.
