A municipal medicinal bath in the centre of Szigetvar built around a 62 C thermal well, with Ottoman-styled domes and towers outside and Zsolnay ceramics inside. A separate teaching-and-swimming pool hall from 2007 sits on the same site.

About

Szigetvari Gyogyfurdo stands in the middle of the small Baranya county town, a short walk from the fortress that gives Szigetvar its place in Hungarian history. The bath draws on a thermal well that reached the surface roughly half a century ago at 62 C, and the operator treats that water as the town's main asset alongside its monuments. The exterior deliberately echoes the Ottoman period with domes and turrets, while the interior is lined with Zsolnay ceramic tiling and set with sculptures by Agnes Bozsogi and Sandor Dobany.

The complex is assembled from several parts that work together rather than a single hall: a summer open-air section, a swimming pool, thermal pools, an adventure pool and a medical services wing. The operator does not publish a count of basins, but it does state that the combined water surface exceeds seventeen hundred square metres. Families are served by a 30 cm paddling basin for the smallest children and a gradually deepening children's pool with a slide, coloured flag decoration and flower-shaped water spouts. The outdoor sports pool and the outdoor children's pool run only in the summer season. Indoor and outdoor rest terraces, a cafe on the gallery and a restaurant in the service wing round out the day, and the building is described as step-free throughout.

The medical wing offers electrotherapy, hydrotherapy, mud packs and carbonated tub baths, with consulting rooms on site and treatments available under the Hungarian health insurance scheme. The water is classified as a sodium-chloride alkaline hydrogen-carbonate medicinal water and is recommended for degenerative musculoskeletal complaints, soft-tissue rheumatism, gynaecological conditions and rehabilitation after surgery or fractures; the operator singles out its high fluoride content. Wellness facilities were added later and comprise a Finnish sauna at 95-100 C, an infrared cabin at 40-60 C, a steam cabin at 40-50 C, a jacuzzi and a salt room. Next door, the teaching pool hall opened in 2007 holds a 12.5 m instruction basin at 28-32 C and a six-lane 25 m pool at 26-28 C, sold on a separate ticket.
