Thermal bath and water park on the peninsula where the Rába meets the Mosoni-Duna in Győr, advertised with 21 pools on 4.5 hectares, a 32 m slide tower, a Japanese-themed sauna world and a medical department using certified 67 °C medicinal water from about 2,000 metres.
About
The RQ Vízi Élménypark és Gyógyfürdő occupies the peninsula at the confluence of the Mosoni-Duna and the Rába, looking across to the historic centre of Győr. According to the Hungarian Wikipedia the bath grew out of a summer lido of nearly five hectares built in 1931 to designs by Alfréd Hajós; the local water was certified as medicinal water in 1978, and the modern complex, then called Rába Quelle Gyógy-, Termál- és Élményfürdő, opened on 3 October 2004. The operator now advertises the site under the RQ name with 4.5 hectares of grounds, 21 pools, 11 catering outlets and a Japanese sauna world for 150 people.
The medicinal water rises from about 2,000 metres at 67 °C. The operator describes it as alkaline hydrogen-carbonate and chloride water that belongs to the iodic medicinal waters through its iodide content, and states that in the Győr medicinal pools it is used without filtering, dilution or chemical treatment. The published analysis gives potassium and sodium together 648.8 mg/l, hydrogen carbonate 951.6, chloride 475.0, metasilicic acid 60.84, ammonium 7.2, magnesium 8.1, calcium 8.7, iodide 1.26, fluoride 1.15, free carbon dioxide 13.20 mg/l and pH 8.04. The indications named are wear-related bone and joint disease, chronic inflammatory joint and muscle complaints and gynaecological problems. The thermal bath pools are for visitors aged 14 and over, and the operator warns that pool temperatures may vary with the weather.
The adventure bath works all year: the older pools have been resurfaced, the Vízibár slide and the tower slide that curves into the outdoor adventure pool are back in use, and a water corridor leads from the indoor wellness pool to the outdoor pool area. A two-level interactive children's section on a Kodály theme has a shallow pool for 0–3 year olds, a deeper one for 3–7 year olds, a musical-note water slide, and a covered indoor playground on the gallery with climbing frames and interactive wall elements. The water park proper is summer-only. Its landmark is the 32-metre Szifon slide tower, named for the inventor Ányos Jedlik, from which four slides start: an adrenaline slide with a 360-degree turn, a double racing slide with timing, a 195-metre giant slide and a family slide for up to four people. There are also the Madagascar jungle slides for children, what the operator calls Hungary's largest spray park, built on the site of the former 50-metre Cziráky pool, a three-level interconnected panorama pool system that takes 500 bathers at once, a ball-point-shaped paddling pool for the under-threes, a hemisphere pool with a climbing rope, and a jacuzzi sitting pool for 32–36 people beside a cocktail bar.
The two-storey Japanese sauna world holds 150 people and contains the SAKURA herbal relax sauna at 70–80 °C, the ASZO master sauna at 90–95 °C, the SENSU quiet sauna at 90–92 °C, the ZEN steam cabin at 45–55 °C, the Nikko infrared sauna at 40–60 °C, the RQ ROUGE exclusive Finnish sauna at 85–95 °C, the YIN-YANG Finnish sauna at 90–95 °C and the FUDZSI meditative sauna at 65–80 °C, together with a Japanese resting room, the Garagara ice well, the Medusa resting pool at 36–37 °C and the KOI plunge pool at 12–14 °C. Several saunas are textile-free and guests are forbidden to pour their own essential oils on the stoves.
The medical department offers balneotherapy in the medicinal pool, underwater jet massage, underwater group exercise therapy and mud treatment; physiotherapy with ultrasound, laser, interference and diadynamic current; individual and aquatic exercise therapy; medical massage; and cupping and kinesio taping, with a rheumatology clinic on site. Hours valid from 1 September 2026 until further notice are 14:00–19:00 Monday to Thursday, 10:00–21:00 on Friday and 10:00–19:00 at weekends for the thermal, adventure and lido area; the sauna world runs 10:00–21:00 on Friday and 15:00–20:00 at weekends, the children's section 10:00–21:00 on Friday and 10:00–19:00 at weekends, and the medical department on weekday mornings. The separate swimming-pool building, which holds a 25 by 21 metre pool and a 13.5 by 8 metre teaching pool, has been closed since 1 September 2025 for an indefinite period.
