Wellarium

Wellarium is a seasonal outdoor bathing complex in Steinheim an der Murr, in operation since 1981 and supplied almost entirely by its own spring, the Riedbrunnen, on the sunbathing lawn. Test drilling under the state geological office in 1978 found strongly mineralized water at a depth of 14.5 metres, yielding about 6 litres per second at a natural temperature of 14 degrees Celsius; the pools are heated separately. Its mineral content of 2,700 milligrams per litre has been confirmed by the state chemical testing office, which found the designation "Mineralwasser" fully justified. The complex has six pools: a 750 square metre, six-lane swimming pool at 23 degrees, 1.35 to 2.00 metres deep, with a diving platform area (1, 3 and 5 metre boards) at the same temperature; a 560 square metre wave pool at 24 degrees generating waves every 30 minutes; a 115 square metre activity pool at 26 degrees with a current channel and bubble loungers; a 450 square metre non-swimmers' pool, also at 26 degrees; and a children's paddling pool with a mud channel and a pirate-ship play area. A kiosk and a beach volleyball court complete the grounds. No sauna or indoor hall is mentioned on the operator's site.
