Therme Erding

Therme Erding is a thermal bath and water park resort at Erding, north-east of Munich in Bavaria, which describes itself as the largest thermal bath in the world. The venue counts 40 pools and basins, 38 saunas and steam baths and 28 slides and virtual-reality attractions, spread across a bathing hall, a wave pool, the Galaxy slide world, the adults-only VitalOase and the VitalTherme sauna world.

The water

The thermal water is held at 34 °C through most of the pools. The Schwefeltöpfe — sulphur pots — are filled from the Ardeo spring at 40 to 42 °C and are described by the venue as high in sulphur and fluoride. The venue lists fluoride, potassium, magnesium and calcium among the minerals, and runs separate basins enriched with calcium, and with selenium and iodine, alongside a mineral bath it compares to the Dead Sea. According to the venue the sulphur pools are used for rheumatic complaints, joint disease and skin problems, the selenium-iodine bath for joints, blood pressure and the immune system, the mineral bath for circulation, rheumatism and skin conditions, and the calcium bath for skin renewal.

Areas and age limits

The thermal bath and wave pool are open to all ages, and children under three enter free. The Galaxy slide world runs on its own shorter hours, with the outdoor slides operating from April to the end of October and weather-dependent. The VitalOase and the VitalTherme sauna world are both restricted to guests of 16 and over.

Visiting

The thermal bath, wave pool, VitalOase and VitalTherme open Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 23:00, Saturday from 09:00 to midnight, and Sunday and Bavarian holidays from 09:00 to 23:00. Galaxy opens at 13:00 on weekdays — until 21:00 Monday to Thursday and 23:00 on Friday — and from 09:00 at weekends. The outdoor slides run 11:00 to 18:00 in season. On weekdays the thermal bath costs 25 EUR for two hours, 37 EUR for four, 49 EUR for six and 52 EUR for a day, with the VitalOase a 10 EUR upgrade; the sauna world is 35, 47, 59 and 62 EUR for the same durations, plus 8 EUR for nude sauna use. An early-bird ticket before noon on weekdays is 22 EUR for two hours, or 32 EUR with sauna access.

Staying

The resort runs the Hotel Victory and the Victory guesthouse, works with partner hotels and operates a motorhome park; a room at the Hotel Victory starts at 115 EUR per person per night with thermal access, or 90 EUR without.
