Thermalbad Aukammtal

Thermalbad Aukammtal is a thermal bath in Wiesbaden, Germany, set within the Aukammtal park at Leibnizstraße 7. Operated by the municipal company mattiaqua, it draws on Wiesbaden's thermal water, which is used year-round so that its outdoor pool can be enjoyed in every season. According to the operator, the warmth of the water and its mineral action relax the musculature and support circulation and the immune system.

Thermal water

The bath uses Wiesbaden's healing thermal water. The operator states that the city's thermal springs have a high common-salt (Kochsalz) content and that bathing is regarded as beneficial for rheumatic and orthopaedic complaints. Warm thermal water is described as relieving muscle tension and promoting relaxation.

Pools

The indoor pool covers 435 m² with water depths of 1.20 m in the non-swimmer area and 1.80 m in the swimmer area, and is fitted with neck showers, massage jets and loungers, and a bubble pool with a light feature; it is kept at roughly 32°C. A swimming channel connects it to the outdoor pool of about 450 m² (depths 1.20–1.35 m), which offers bubble loungers and is likewise held at around 32°C. A separate action pool of 80 m² (0.90–1.20 m deep) is used mainly for aqua-fitness and health classes.

Sauna

The sauna landscape combines four indoor saunas — a Finnish sauna (80–90°C), a Kristall-Sanarium (60°C) with crystal lighting, a Mental-Sanarium (70–75°C) with aromas and sound, and a steam bath (around 42°C) — with three outdoor saunas: a fire sauna (70–90°C) with a real fireplace, a loft sauna (around 70°C) and a hut sauna (around 100°C). Further features include a whirlpool, a wading pool (Tretbecken), experience showers and a panoramic winter-garden lounge. Mondays are designated women's days and the first Saturday of the month is a family sauna day. At the time of writing the sauna area is undergoing renovation, with partial closures and a 50% reduction on the sauna surcharge.

Wellness and courses

Relaxation offerings include massages and softpacks and an AYURLANKA massage area. The bath runs a range of courses, among them Aqua-Rückenfit (a back-fitness course subsidised by statutory health insurers), aqua-fitness for pregnant women and postnatal recovery, and swimming lessons (spaceswim, from six months of age).

Gastronomy

Food and drink are provided by the operator AquaVita Aukammtal, offering selected dishes and a variety of beverages.

Bath: 1 October–30 April, Monday–Thursday and Sunday 8:00–22:00, Friday–Saturday 8:00–23:00; 1 May–30 September, daily 8:00–22:00. Sauna: 1 October–30 April, Monday–Thursday and Sunday 9:00–22:00, Friday–Saturday 9:00–23:00; 1 May–30 September, daily 9:00–22:00. The cash desk closes one hour before, and pool and sauna 30 minutes before, the stated closing times.

Prices

Bath admission for adults (16+) is €15.00 Monday–Thursday and €17.00 Friday–Sunday and holidays; children and youth (3–15) pay €8.00 and €9.00 respectively, with reduced rates of €12.00/€13.60. Sauna admission for adults is €20.00 (Mon–Thu) and €22.00 (Fri–Sun/holidays). Parking costs €4.00, towel rental €4.50 and bathrobe rental €8.50.
