Laguna Asslar
Laguna Aßlar is a year-round leisure bath in central Hesse combining a swimming hall with a 108 m slide, an indoor and outdoor natural brine bath at 33 °C, and a roughly 4,000 m² sauna landscape.
About
Laguna Aßlar, which the operator subtitles "Die Mittelhessentherme", is split into three areas that are ticketed separately or together: swimming pool, brine bath and sauna. The swimming hall holds a sports pool with five 25 m lanes, whose water the operator states it deliberately cools to 27.5 °C, and a 120 m² non-swimmer pool 0.50 m to 1.35 m deep, also at 27.5 °C, with a wide slide. A children's bathing landscape with paddling pools and play equipment is kept at 34 °C. The slide is "Crazy Light", 108 m long, with sections the operator names Crystal Tube, Jump, Running Light, Wasserfall, Crazy Light and Aquastrobe, a timer for personal best times, and no separate charge; it is stated as suitable from age 6.
The brine area holds 220 m² of stainless-steel brine pools indoors and outdoors filled with natural mineral brine at 33 °C: an 84 m² indoor basin with whirlpools and massage jets, an additional 20 m² massage pool, and a 75 m² outdoor pool reached through a water lock, with neck showers, massage jets and bubble loungers. Attached to it are a steam room at 40-50 °C, a textile sauna for up to 25 guests run at a maximum of 60 °C with a mill wheel for automatic infusions and a panorama window, and a movement pool at 33 °C used mainly for courses and released to bathers and sauna guests in published time windows. Two graduation works of 40 m² each, which the operator calls Hesse's largest indoor Gradierwerk, deliver air with a 5 % salt concentration. The site describes its Natursole as formed from seawater deposits over 250 million years ago, with an average total dissolved mineral content of 320,000 mg/l; that figure refers to the brine as a product, not to pool water.
The sauna landscape covers about 4,000 m², of which nearly 800 m² is indoors on two storeys, with an outdoor area of over 3,000 m² on two levels holding a small natural lake, an artificial waterfall, a Kneipp walking basin and a 150 m² Ruhehaus with 38 loungers. The operator does not publish a cabin total; it names a Stollensauna built into the hillside for about 45 people at 85 °C with ice-ball infusions, an octagonal Kaminsauna for up to 50 at 90 °C with hourly manual infusions, a Salzsauna at 65-70 °C with real salt-stone walls and 5 % salt in the air, several Finnish infusion saunas at 80 °C and 90 °C (one indoor for up to 12, one in the new annex for up to 30), a Heusauna for 13 at 85 °C, a Kräutersauna for 10 at 65 °C, and a Roman steam bath at about 45-46 °C with infrared and collagen loungers and foot baths. The overview gives the range as 60 °C to 90 °C. Thursdays are ladies' sauna days.
The bath is open all year and closed on Mondays; on other days the swimming pool and brine bath open between 09:00 and 11:00, weekends at 10:00, and close between 20:00 and 22:00, with the sauna starting at 13:00 on weekdays and 10:00 at weekends and running until 22:00 to 00:00. Published admission: a two-hour ticket is 6.50 € for the swimming pool (5.50 € ages 6-17, under 6 free), 10.50 € including the brine bath, 22.00 € including the sauna and 26.00 € for the whole complex; day tickets are 12.50 €, 16.50 €, 28.00 € and 32.00 €, with a 1.00 € weekend and holiday surcharge on all tariffs. From 18:00 the brine pool is reserved for guests aged 14 and over. The operator gives the whole site as over 8,000 m² with free parking.
