Subtropisches Badeparadies

The Subtropisches Badeparadies is the indoor bathing hall of the Ferien- und Freizeitpark Weissenhäuser Strand on the Baltic coast of Schleswig-Holstein. The operator describes it as "Norddeutschlands actionreichstes Spaßbad und einziges Kinoschwimmbad mit mehr als 10.000 m² Fläche" — a leisure bath of more than 10,000 m² that also projects film onto the hall. The water is plain heated fresh water in an enclosed, tropically warmed hall; the operator makes no claim of thermal, mineral, brine or seawater supply anywhere on its pages for the bath, and the Baltic itself is used only as an open beach outside.

The operator enumerates the attractions rather than totalling them. The centrepiece is a wave pool holding, in its words, "470.000 Litern Wasser" and producing what it calls the longest wave in northern Germany; in summer the wave machine pauses for fifteen minutes each hour. Four slides are named by length: a 214-metre tyre slide, a 156-metre effect slide, a 70-metre turbo slide and a three-lane wave slide, alongside separate Aquaplay slides, a children's slide in the toddler area and a steep slide with a 1.20 m height limit. The "Water World" is a water playhouse of over 400 m² on three levels with fountains, water cannons and a 1,600-litre tipping bucket some 10 m above the floor. Warm toddler pools and a children's pool beside the Water World complete the water areas, and a rainforest shower stands beside them.

A warm zone adjoining the pools holds a steam bath and a textile sauna at 60 °C, both used in swimwear; the operator notes that its textile-free sauna is not here but in the Dünenbad of the four-star beach hotel. A bistro and the Schatzkiste shop, which rents shell-shaped loungers, sit inside the hall.

The bath is open daily from 09:00 to 20:30, with last admission 90 minutes and end of bathing 30 minutes before closing, and opens normally on all public holidays except New Year's Eve. Day visitors are admitted: the operator publishes a separate "Ticket Tagesgäste" tariff alongside the resident tariff and states that "3-Stunden- und Tageskarten sind am Eingang des Subtropischen Badeparadieses erhältlich." Day-visitor adult tickets from 15 years run 30.00 € for three hours or 34.50 € for a day card outside school holidays, and 34.50 €/39.50 € during school holidays, weekends and public holidays; groups of ten or more pay 23.50 € per person by prior arrangement. Overnight guests of the park are capped at three hours of bathing per day.
