espada Freizeitbad

espada is the municipal leisure bath of Eschwege in north-east Hesse. Nowhere does the site claim a spring, a borehole or thermal water: the indoor water is treated and heated, and the outdoor pool is cleaned biologically. Indoors there are three basins: a 25-metre sports pool with swimmer and non-swimmer sections at about 28 °C, a 1 m springboard and a 3 m tower; the Fitness-Relax pool at 33 °C with massage jets, a massage waterfall and a height-adjustable floor, where courses have priority and bathers are kept out while they run; and a parent-and-child area holding 50 m² of water at about 33 °C.

Three slides are in the house: the 80-metre Black Hole with light and sound effects, a 20-metre children's slide for visitors from seven, and the Rosifant's trunk in the parent-and-child area. A Textilsauna opened in April 2024 — bathing costumes are kept on — with a bio-sauna, a steam bath and an infrared cabin; under-14s may use it only with an adult.

From May to September the espanatura natural open-air pool opens, 1,040 m² with three 50-metre lanes and a step-free ramp into the water; it is held at 23 °C or above, with no chlorine — a reed-planted soil filter does the cleaning. A sand-bottomed lagoon, a pirate playground and a wide wave slide adjoin it, and the espadino water garden adds twenty play attractions at 20–22 °C. Hours differ sharply by day and between term time and the school holidays.
