About

Erlebnisbad Aquaria lies in Oberstaufen in the Allgäu and is run by Aquaria Erlebnisbad-Betriebs GmbH, whose Impressum gives the address as Alpenstraße 5, D-87534 Oberstaufen. The house combines a leisure bath, a sauna landscape and a massage department with a restaurant, and looks out on the Allgäu Alps. Its water is ordinary heated pool water: the words Thermalwasser, Sole, Mineral, Quelle and Heilwasser appear nowhere on the pool page, the sauna page, the prices page or the Impressum, and the single occurrence of Therme on the site is in the homepage's page title. The outdoor pool named Allgäuer Onsen carries a Japanese bathing term as a name, not as a claim about the water's origin. No opening year is published by the operator, and the German Wikipedia article on Oberstaufen lists the bath without a date.

The operator gives the bathing area as 1,200 m² and lists the pools with their temperatures. The swimmers' pool is 30 °C with four 25-metre lanes, one lane fenced off for training, starting blocks with a water depth of 1.80 m in the diving zone and a swim-coach clock. The indoor warm-water pool is 32.5 °C with underwater loungers, air-bubble benches, massage jets and bubbling seats. The Allgäuer Onsen outdoors is 38.5 °C with massage jets and a view of the mountains, and a further outdoor pool is 32.5 °C with underwater loungers, a gymnastics bar and neck showers. A white-water whirl pool with a current is listed separately. Two children's pools are given: the outdoor one at 31.5 °C, 20 to 35 cm deep with a water playground and slide, open only in the summer months, and the indoor one at 33.5 °C, 10 to 45 cm deep with a children's slide, water mushroom and spray cannons. The same page also summarises the house as offering "Wassertemperaturen von 30°C bis 34°C", which does not agree with the 38.5 °C it gives for the Allgäuer Onsen or with the 34.5 °C of the sauna whirlpools; the operator publishes no reconciliation of the two statements.

The action attractions are a 100-metre enclosed tube slide with timing and changing light effects, and a diving tower with 3-metre and 5-metre platforms where the landing is softened by a bubbler. In summer a large lawn with a playground surrounds the outdoor pools and a sun terrace with loungers adjoins the Allgäuer Onsen.

The sauna landscape is split between an adults-only outdoor area and an indoor area, and is enumerated without a stated total. Outdoors are three large cabins with daily Aufguss: the Gipfelsauna at 95 °C, the Panoramasauna at 85 °C and the Felsensauna at 75 °C, each at 5-10 % humidity rising to 30-40 % during an Aufguss, with recommended stays of 10-15 minutes (15-20 in the Felsensauna), plus panorama rest rooms and a separate plunge pool. Indoors are the Allgäuer Dampfbad at 40-45 °C and 90-100 % humidity, with a salt scrub sold at the sauna bar, the Zirbensauna, a dry stone-pine cabin at 90 °C, and a Bio Sauna at 60 °C with music and 60-65 % humidity. A separate women's area repeats three of these types, an Alt-Finnische Sauna at 90 °C, a Bio Sauna at 60 °C and the Allgäuer Dampfbad at 40-45 °C. There are also a Physiotherm infrared cabin, two hot whirlpools at 34.5 °C, two sauna bars and rest rooms with floating loungers. The sauna area is textile-free, and children up to 15 may use the indoor sauna only accompanied by an adult and only until 19:00.

The bath is open daily from 9 to 22. Admission includes bath and sauna: adults pay 18 € for one hour, 24 € for two hours, 30 € for four hours and 33 € for a day; children from 6 to 15 pay 9, 11, 14 and 15.50 €, with the children's ticket valid for the bath only, and children under 6 enter free. A family ticket for parents or grandparents with up to three children costs 56, 68 and 74 €. An early-swimmer rate of 18 € for two hours applies Monday to Saturday from 9 to 11 outside public holidays; groups of ten or more, school and university students and guests with a degree of disability of at least 70 receive 10 %. Bathrobes are rented at 7 € and towels at 6 €, and parking costs 2 € per started hour with 50 % off for bath visitors who validate the ticket at the till.
