badkap

badkap is a leisure bath in Albstadt on the northern edge of the Swabian Jura, operated by g1 Albstadt Betriebsführungs GmbH at Beibruck 1. It is now presented together with the sauna area (saunakap) and a newly built four-star hotel (hotelkap) under the umbrella name kapwelten. The water is ordinary heated water: across the bathing, slide, outdoor and opening-hours pages the operator makes no mention of a thermal spring, a well, a mineral analysis or brine in any pool. The only brine on the site is a Sole-Dampfbad, a brine steam room in the sauna area, and a Salzsauna whose salt is a room fitting rather than a property of the bathing water.

Pools are listed individually with their temperatures and no total is given. The indoor Wellenbrandungsbad is kept at 29 °C and runs waves every 30 minutes; a water mushroom feature plays every 30 minutes in water of 32 °C; the Relaxbecken with bubble seating is at 34 °C; the children's paddling pool is also at 34 °C and holds play equipment including a snake slide and a hand-pumped fountain; and a spring grotto with a current channel runs at 32 °C. The sauna area adds a 35 °C warm-water pool outdoors, usable in every season, alongside a cold plunge pool and a cooling fountain. A jungle lounge with around 70 loungers, an experience shower and a steam bath complete the bathing hall. In the winter months a laser show with music is staged in the wave pool after dark, daily at 19:50, with additional shows at 18:20 on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and at 21:20 on Friday and Saturday. Prams are not allowed in the indoor area.

The Rutschenhaus holds three slides, each given with its length and minimum age. "The Rocket" turbo slide is 54 m long with a 21 % gradient, admitted from age 12, starting from a platform 9 metres up with a rocket start and a free-fall section before leaving the building through the glass front and ending in a run-out pool. The Röhrenrutsche is an 87 m enclosed black-hole slide with light and sound effects, from age 6. The Wildwasserfluss is 96 m, from age 12, running through curves, whirls and rapids; it is normally open all year but closes after dark and its operating time can be cut short by the weather. The slide house closes at 21:00 at the latest.

The sauna area is enumerated rather than totalled: a Panoramasauna with large windows looking on to the Swabian Jura, where two infusion masters run special ceremonies; an Erdsauna, a silver-fir log house sunk half into the ground with a wood stove; a Salzsauna at 85 °C; the Albsauna, a classic indoor cabin at 80 °C panelled in wood; a Banjasauna at 90 °C using birch whisks; and an Amethystsauna at roughly 50 to 60 °C with about 48 to 60 % humidity. An Irish-Roman steam bath and a brine steam bath, a sauna garden with a view of the Jura, a reading room with an adjoining quiet room, a fireplace room and an absolute-silence room for singing-bowl sessions round out the area. Once a month the sauna stays open until 24:00 on a Saturday.

An open-air summer section has several pools for swimmers and non-swimmers, slides, diving boards and water play features; the operator notes that the lawn is largely closed this year because of the hotel construction, although sun terraces and over 100 loungers remain, and that the separate outdoor-only Freibad ticket is not on sale this year. The two statements do not fully agree with the about page, which speaks of the hotel as already built. The bath opens daily: Monday 11:00–22:00 outside the holidays and 09:30–22:00 during them, Tuesday to Thursday 09:30–22:00, Friday 09:30–23:00, Saturday 09:00–23:00 and Sunday 09:00–22:00, with bathing ending 25 minutes before closing. A four-hour ticket costs 20 € for adults, 18 € reduced and 15 € for schoolchildren aged 6 to 14, rising to 21 / 19 / 16 € at weekends, on public holidays and in the school holidays; a day ticket is 23 / 21 / 18 € and 24 / 22 / 19 € respectively, with a sauna surcharge of 9 €. Children aged 3 to 5 pay 6 € and under-threes are free. No opening year is published.
