Lázně Luhačovice

The dominant constituents of the Luhačovice springs are chloride, hydrogencarbonate and iodine, and the operator adds sodium, describing the water as a very strongly mineralised, carbonated, iodine-bearing hydrogencarbonate-chloride-sodium type. The company states it manages Vincentka and nine further natural mineral springs, and puts their temperature at 10–14 °C: cold mineral water raised from boreholes, not a hot spring, and Luhačovice is not a thermal swimming resort. Vincentka rises on the spa square, is captured from 50.2 metres, yields 14 litres a minute and is served cold or heated in a hall rebuilt in 2019.

The water is put to three uses. Inhalation of the mineral aerosol is the house speciality; the drinking cure is taken on an empty stomach, 400–500 ml a day split into two portions sipped slowly; and carbonic baths are given in individual tubs filled with the carbon-dioxide-rich water, with peat, humate, sulphur or iodine-bromine additives. The operator states the springs are used for respiratory and musculoskeletal conditions, for the skin, for digestive complaints and diabetes, for circulatory disease and for recovery after cancer treatment.

Getting in works two ways. The spa grounds and the colonnade are open to all, and five springs have public taps, the house rules limiting draws to one litre in the Vincentka hall and 1.5 litres per person per day at the other public taps. Treatments differ: prescription-bound procedures must be indicated by a spa doctor and cannot be bought in advance, while the rest are sold freely. Stays run year-round, either covered by Czech health insurance on a doctor's proposal or paid for directly.
