Lázně Luhačovice

Lázně Luhačovice, a.s. is the main spa operator in the Moravian spa town of Luhačovice, and states that it manages Vincentka and nine further natural mineral springs. The company describes the Luhačovice waters as having a high mineral content and outstanding natural saturation with free carbon dioxide, and gives their temperature as 10-14 °C: these are cold carbonated mineral waters, not thermal water, and they are used warmed where a treatment requires it. Most are classified by the operator as naturally very strongly mineralised, sodium bicarbonate-chloride, carbonated and iodine-bearing.

Vincentka, on Lázeňské náměstí, is the best known. The operator gives its yield as 14 l/min, available cold or heated, tapped from a depth of 50.2 m, and says it is used for drinking cures and inhalations; its history goes back to the 18th century, when it was called the Main Spring, and it was renamed after Count Vincenc Serényi. Its hall was refurbished in 2019. Other springs open to the public include Aloiska in the park by villa Vlasta (3 l/min, tapped at 14.4 m, known before 1770, present pavilion from 1963); Ottovka above the tennis courts (3 l/min, captured in 1905, its fountain used in the company's logo); the Dr. Šťastný spring near the Inhalatorium (5 l/min), found in the early 20th century when a mineral-water eruption from 39 m shot 13 m into the air and was briefly known as the Geyser; and Nový Jubilejní between the Společenský dům and villa Alpská růže, drilled in 1988, at 60 l/min from 50.5 m the strongest freely accessible spring in Luhačovice, opened to the public in 2013.

Further springs are reserved for balneotherapy rather than drinking. Elektra, under the Elektra cultural house, is described as the most concentrated Luhačovice spring, with a borehole to 81 m sunk in the floor of a walled well of 1908-1910; it is closed to the public and its water goes to inhalation and bath treatments in the Morava spa hotel and into the bathing mixture at the Alexandria Spa & Wellness hotel. Nová čítárna, captured in 1987 beside the Společenský dům at 50.6 m, originally yielded 120 l/min but is limited to 90 l/min to protect the other springs. Vladimír, drilled in 1988 opposite the Miramare sanatorium, rises at 42 m and has been used for mineral baths and inhalations since April 2023. Nová Janovka, drilled in 1987 at 30.5 m and yielding 60 l/min, has served the Miramonti children's sanatorium since 2016. The old Jubilejní spring of 1925, reworked in the 1990s into an 8 m borehole, is an observation source with no current use.

The three water treatments the operator sets out are inhalation of an aerosol of the natural mineral waters; the carbonic bath, given in a special stainless-steel tub filled with mineral water of high carbon-dioxide concentration, sometimes with peat, humate, solfatan or iodine-bromine additives and followed by a rest in a dry wrap, and contraindicated for non-healing skin wounds and epilepsy; and the drinking cure, taken on an empty stomach, ideally 6-8 in the morning and 16-18 in the afternoon, with a recommended daily dose of 400-500 ml split in two and sipped slowly. The stated indications are respiratory disease, the locomotor system, digestive complaints, circulatory disease, diabetes mellitus and recovery after oncological treatment, and the company runs separate insurance-funded programmes for adults and for children. The operator publishes no pool or sauna count for its houses and no general opening hours for the springs, though Aloiska, Ottovka, the Dr. Šťastný spring and Nový Jubilejní are stated to be freely accessible to the public. On 10 September 2026 the company published a notice that an extraordinary hygiene-authority measure over intestinal infections in Luhačovice concerns the Lázeňský léčebný dům Praha, which is not its establishment, and that its own facilities are running without restriction.
