Lázně Hodonín

Lázně Hodonín works with an iodine-bromine brine that the operator calls solanka and describes as a Tertiary mineral water, the remains of a prehistoric sea two kilometres below the surface. The company states that Hodonín lies in the Vienna Basin and can draw the brine from the so-called Láb sands and sandstones at a depth of 1,960 to 2,040 metres, and that the temperature of the brine at a depth of 1,887 metres reaches 69.7 °C. It is pumped from two production boreholes, Josefov BVJ-1 Podluží and Josefov BVJ-2 Prušánka, with Josefov BVJ-3 Josefka serving as a monitoring well, and piped to the spa. The operator classifies it as a natural, very strongly mineralised iodine sodium-chloride water with a raised content of bromides and boric acid, hypertonic and lukewarm, and gives a total mineralisation of 14.16 g per litre. Because of the high iodine content the water is diluted 1:1 with warm water to 36-38 °C for bath treatments, which are given as individual baths.

The operator's two analyses do not fully agree. The natural-resource page lists chlorides at 7,674.0 mg/l, iodides at 50.6 mg/l and bromides at 54.5 mg/l, and elsewhere states 40 to 60 mg/l of iodine salts; the "Co léčíme" page prints a basic analysis with pH 7.28, chlorides at 7,550.00 mg/l and iodides given as a range of 47.0 to 56.0. Both pages agree that the iodine content is high while the overall mineralisation stays comparatively low, and the spa compares the brine to Dead Sea water, claiming several times the iodide content.

The spa is among the youngest in the Czech Republic. First trials with hyperthermal iodine baths began in 1953 at the new Hodonín hospital, using water carted in from boreholes near Lužice; a 7 km brine pipeline and an eight-cabin balneo unit at the hospital followed in 1971, and research published in 1978 as the monograph "Hodonínské jodové minerální vody" established the therapeutic effect. The spa sanatorium itself, then part of the Luhačovice state spa organisation, opened in July 1979 with 180 beds. The town of Hodonín took it over in 1992, a new balneo department inside the sanatorium opened on 1 December 2001, the Vladimír house and the spa park were rebuilt in 2002-2003, and the Eva house with 104 beds was completed in October 2006. The complex now consists of the Vladimír and Eva spa houses, the Jindřich treatment pavilion and the Denní lázně day-spa centre set in the spa park.

Treatment is aimed mainly at the locomotor system - inflammatory rheumatic disease, ankylosing spondylitis, rheumatoid arthritis, arthrosis and vertebrogenic syndromes - plus states after injuries and joint operations including total joint replacements, osteoporosis, serious neurological conditions such as multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease and polyneuropathy, and diseases of the circulatory system including hypertension and arterial, venous and lymphatic disorders. The operator publishes a full indication list keyed to Czech insurers.

Bathing open to the public sits in the Denní lázně Bliss Day Spa pavilion, opened to visitors on 12 October 2015 and run without any beds of its own. A two-hour wellness-zone ticket covers the pool, whirlpool, saunas and showers, Kneipp treatment, local hibernation, a relaxation room and access to the green roof; there is also a one-hour swimming ticket, a private sauna in booked slots, a fitness centre, and massages. The operator does not publish a pool or sauna count for the pavilion. Alongside it the company runs a separate indoor pool (krytý bazén) and a summer open-air lido, each with its own price list and rules. Wellness-zone hours in normal season are Tuesday to Friday 14:00-21:00 and weekends and holidays 10:00-20:00, with swimming on Monday 14:00-21:00 and Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 12:00-14:00; a different holiday timetable applies from 1 July to 31 August.
