Sirnaté lázně Ostrožská Nová Ves
A balneological spa in Moravian Slovakia built on two of its own cold sulphurous mineral springs, treating chronic skin conditions and musculoskeletal complaints, with a pool, whirlpool and sauna alongside the medical balneo department.
About
Sirnaté lázně Ostrožská Nová Ves is a spa establishment in the village of Ostrožská Nová Ves in Moravian Slovakia, operated as part of the ROYAL SPA group. Its treatment rests on a local sulphurous mineral water: the operator describes the source as a "Přírodní, prostá, sirná minerální voda hydrogenuhličitano-vápenatosodno-hořečnatého typu, studená, hypotonická" — a plain sulphurous mineral water of the bicarbonate-calcium-sodium-magnesium type, cold and hypotonic. The water is therefore not thermal; it is used in baths rather than as a warm bathing pool, and the operator publishes no temperature figure for it. The spa lists "2 vlastní přírodní sirné prameny", two of its own natural sulphur springs, among the facilities of its spa centre.
The operator states that its long tradition of spa treatment is bound up with the discovery of this unique sulphurous spring, and the Czech Wikipedia article on the village dates the start of spa activity to 1903, when the beneficial effects of the sulphurous water were demonstrated, with a ceremonial opening on 29 June of the same year. Development into the present balneological form came after 1989.
The site consists of accommodation buildings, a restaurant and café, and a spa centre described by the operator as a modern balneo department with rooms for treatments based on the natural curative sources, consulting rooms, gymnasiums and physical therapy. Its listed relaxation facilities are a pool ("Bazén"), a whirlpool and a sauna; the operator states that residential guests have free entry to the pool and whirlpool during reserved hours, so bathing here is an adjunct to spa stays and treatment courses rather than a public water park. Alongside residential programmes the spa offers complex, contributory and outpatient spa care in cooperation with health insurers, and sells individual spa and wellness procedures ordered through its treatment-booking department.
Indications named by the operator are chronic skin diseases, above all psoriasis, atopic and other chronic eczemas and dermatoses such as lichen ruber planus, hyperkeratoses, pruritus and acne, together with orthopaedic, rheumatological and neurological illnesses; it attributes anti-inflammatory, analgesic and disinfectant effects to the baths, along with release of muscle spasm, improved circulation and benefit in lymphatic oedema and atherosclerotic artery disease of the limbs. The operator publishes no opening hours for the pool or the spa centre on its website; reception is reachable on +420 572 437 200 at Kunovská 664, Ostrožská Nová Ves.
