About

TAUERN SPA Zell am See-Kaprun stands at Tauern Spa Platz 1 in Kaprun, in the Salzburg region of Austria, and combines a public bathing complex with a four-star-superior resort hotel. It is operated as part of the VAMED Vitality World group. The operator gives the size of the combined SPA water and sauna world as more than 20,000 m², containing twelve pools and ten saunas and steam baths together with a separate children's area and a treatment area, and states that the bathing world is open 365 days a year. Elsewhere on the site the volume of heated water is given as 2,100 m².

The water world is arranged as a series of differently staged basins across large indoor and outdoor sections, and the operator lists activity pools, relaxation pools, cascades and grottoes, with panorama windows facing the high peaks of the Hohe Tauern. A children's area, the Kinder SPA Kidstein, is separated from the rest of the complex; its main feature is a 127-metre enclosed tube slide, and it also has a children's activity pool, an outdoor playground and family lounge areas with beach chairs. A family quiet zone with screened alcoves, a dry "bear cave" and a three-dimensional climbing frame was added recently. Baby swimming courses are run on site by an outside swimming school.

The sauna world is charged separately and admits visitors from the age of fifteen only in combination with a water-world ticket. Rest rooms, a fitness area and several restaurants and bars are also available at extra cost, and a Panorama SPA with a glazed skyline pool is reserved for hotel guests. The house holds regular sauna events, including a three-day programme of staged Aufguss ceremonies each autumn.

The water world opens from 09:00 to 21:00 and the sauna world from 10:00 to 21:00. Adult day tickets for the water world start at €28.50, or €48.00 with sauna access, and a three-hour ticket starts at €24.00; the sauna supplement alone is €19.50. A live occupancy figure is published on the front page. The operator publishes no spring temperature, well depth or mineral analysis for its water, and a search of its water-world, price and maintenance pages for the terms Thermalwasser, Heilwasser, Thermalquelle and Quelle returns no matches, so no such figures are recorded here. Planned maintenance is listed openly: the slides in the SPA water world are closed from 21 to 23 September 2026.
