Rogner Bad Blumau is a thermal spa resort in Bad Blumau, Austria, built following Friedensreich Hundertwasser's architectural philosophy, with 14 indoor and outdoor pools fed by highly mineralised thermal springs. It combines bathing, a ten-part sauna landscape, wellness treatments, hotel accommodation and dining across a 420,000 m² site.

About

Rogner Bad Blumau is a thermal spa resort in Bad Blumau, Austria. The complex was shaped according to the architectural philosophy of Friedensreich Hundertwasser, giving it organic forms without corners, edges or straight lines, along with colourful columns, "dancing" windows, flowing colonnades, golden cupolas and roofs that can be walked on. The whole site covers roughly 420,000 m², of which the wellness area accounts for around 8,500 m².

The water

The resort draws on more than one thermal spring. The Melchior spring rises from about 970 metres depth at 47.2 degrees Celsius and is classified as a sodium-hydrogen-carbonate spring. A deeper Balthasar spring, at about 3,045 metres, serves as a reinjection point for the resort's Vulkania water. The Vulkania spring supplies highly mineralised water, free of chemical additives, into two open-air lakes covering roughly 40,000 m² that are continuously refreshed from the spring. According to the resort, this water supports the skin and metabolism and the blood circulation. The main thermal bathing water is around 36 degrees Celsius, and the water is recognised as certified medicinal water with indications for the circulatory system.

Pools and saunas

There are 14 different indoor and outdoor pools spread across a pool area of more than 3,000 m², offered at a range of temperatures. The sauna landscape comprises ten facilities: a garden sauna with an IKI stove, a Finnish outdoor sauna, a rock sauna, a herbal sauna, an aroma chamber, a Roman sweat room, a Turkish steam bath, a Biosanarium with a Helarium of light and colour effects, a further Biosanarium and an infrared cabin. Sauna infusions and rituals are run by the resort's sauna attendants and sports team.

Wellness, stay and dining

The wellness and health offering includes massages, a hammam, Ayurveda treatments, and body and facial treatments, alongside an AlphaSphere sound-and-relaxation room and a medical practice offering conventional medicine, homeopathy and Imedis therapy. Guests can stay on site in double rooms, suites and apartments, and dine at the Rognerie restaurant, which has an Italian pizza oven, a winter garden and outdoor seating.

Visiting

The thermal spa admits guests from 9 a.m., with a separate evening ticket valid from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Day-guest admission for adults is €60 on weekdays, €71 at weekends and on holidays, and €48.90 in the evening.
