Municipal open-air leisure bath on the Harter Plateau in Leonding, open from May to September with heated pools, a 92-metre themed water slide and diving towers, and sharing its Limesstraße site with the separately run Panorama Wellness Center sauna world.

About

The bath listed here as Kürnbergbad is the open-air bath (Freibad) of the city of Leonding in Upper Austria. The operator's own pages do not use the name Kürnbergbad; they call it the Freibad or das Leondinger Freibad, and the contact block gives the address as Freizeitanlage, Limesstraße 10a, 4060 Leonding, on the Harter Plateau. The URL held in this catalogue for the venue now redirects to the city's Panorama Wellness page, which covers a different facility on the same site; the two are described separately below.

The water is plain heated mains water: the operator states only that heated pools and a warming hall provide bathing from May to September, and publishes no water temperature, no thermal spring and no brine. The pool set consists of a children's pool with a water mushroom and sun sail, an Erlebnisbecken (leisure pool) with a water mushroom, a Römerbecken, a current channel, diving towers and a sports pool. The principal attraction is a water slide of 92 metres length and 10.6 metres height, described by the city as new and 30 metres longer than the slide it replaced; the descent is themed as a journey through time with LED light effects and sound, and a digital display beside the pool at the run-out shows the speed reached. Grounds include 25,000 m2 of lawn, a naturist terrace, table tennis, beach volleyball, pitch-and-putt style Bahnengolf and a playground. Catering is by the Sonnendeck team.

Season and hours: the bath opens from 9 May to and including the second Sunday in September, and only in dry weather above 13 °C. In the main season, 1 June to 15 August, it is open 09:00 to 20:00 with last admission at 19:00; in the shoulder season 10:00 to 19:30 with last admission at 18:30. Season tickets are sold at the cash desk from 1 April each year. Admission prices are not published on the page itself but in a separate Tarifordnung; no opening year is given.

On the same Limesstraße leisure site the city runs the Panorama Wellness Center, a sauna world of over 800 m2 indoors and 500 m2 outdoors, with access to the open-air bath and its lawn. It is described as having two Finnish sauna rooms, one indoors and one in the open-air sauna courtyard, at 85 to 90 °C and 10 to 15 % humidity; a Klima-Sauna or Saunarium at 50 °C and 55 % humidity; a Tepidarium at 50 to 55 °C; a steam bath at 45 °C and 80 to 100 % humidity; an infrared cabin at a maximum of 40 °C; a deep-heat cabin; a quiet room; warm (35 °C) and cold (15 °C) Kneipp walk-through basins; and a whirlpool with massage jets at about 35 °C. Its hours are Tuesday to Saturday 11:30 to 21:30 and Sunday 11:30 to 20:00, with Thursday a women's day. The two operations run in complementary seasons rather than together: the Panorama Wellness Center is closed from June to August, which is the core of the open-air bath's season, and its evening hours are cut to a 20:00 close during the open-air season. The figures in this paragraph are published for the wellness centre and not for the open-air bath.
