Aquabasilea

Aquabasilea is a combined water park, sauna and spa complex in Pratteln, in the canton of Basel-Landschaft, a few kilometres east of Basel. It is divided into a bathing section (Badewelt), itself split into an “Actionwelt” and a “Relaxwelt”, a separate sauna section (Saunawelt), a hamam, a spa, a fitness studio and a physiotherapy practice. The bathing section is advertised by the operator with eight pools and seven water slides; the operator states that the slides together with two whitewater channels reach a combined length of 824 metres. Individual slide lengths published on the Actionwelt page range from 16 to 144 metres.

The pools listed for the quieter Relaxwelt include a water-gymnastics pool in the Vitalbad of 474 m² at 32 °C, a pool-bar basin of 78 m² at 32 °C and a regeneration pool of 163 m² at 32 °C, while an outdoor children's paddling pool of 30 m² is kept at 33 °C. The Actionwelt side adds a wave pool, a toddler pool and the outdoor area. The operator marks the outdoor pool and the whitewater channels with an asterisk, indicating seasonal or conditional operation.

The Saunawelt is listed with eight indoor and outdoor saunas, two steam baths, five rest rooms, two whirlpools and four warm and cold basins. Named cabins include a Finnish sauna at 80–90 °C, a brine grotto at 40–45 °C, a sanarium at 50–60 °C, a mine-themed sauna, a candle sauna at 55–65 °C, an event sauna, a Russian banya, separate men's and women's saunas, two steam baths at 40–50 °C and a snow cave. The event sauna is stated to hold up to 120 people.

The bathing section is open daily from 10.00 to 22.00; the sauna section closes at 22.00 from Monday to Thursday and on Sunday and at 23.00 on Friday and Saturday, the hamam runs from 12.00 to 20.00 and the spa from 10.00 to 20.00. According to German Wikipedia, used here as a second source, the complex opened in March 2010, covers 13,000 m² and was designed by the Zurich architect Hans Tännler, with a total water area of 2,160 m². At the time of research the operator notice board reported that the large water slides were closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for maintenance, with possible further restrictions until 10 September 2026.
