Water parkBrixen, Italy

A municipal year-round water world in Brixen, South Tyrol, run by Stadtwerke Brixen AG, combining an indoor bath with a 64-metre spiral slide and an open-air brine pool, a summer lido with a 77-metre slide, and a seven-cabin sauna landscape.

About

Acquarena is the indoor and outdoor bath of Brixen (Bressanone) in South Tyrol. Its legal notice names the operator as Acquarena – Stadtwerke Brixen AG at Altenmarktgasse 28/b, I-39042 Brixen (BZ) — the municipal utility company of the town; the site carries no claim of thermal or mineral origin for its water, and no analysis is published, so the bath should be read as a treated-water leisure and sports bath rather than a spa. One pool is an exception: the Solebecken, a brine pool, which the operator places under the open sky.

The indoor hall is open all year and the operator lists it as having a fun pool, a sports pool, a children's pool, a salt-water pool and a whirlpool. The published detail table gives each pool separately: the Funbecken with a 64-metre spiral slide, current channel, neck showers and whirl loungers at 27–31 °C over 320 m² and 1.40 m deep; the Kinderbecken with slides, a waterfall and warm alcoves at 26–31 °C over 56 m² and 0.30 m deep; the Sportbecken with 8 lanes and a 1-metre springboard at 25–27 °C over 415 m², 0.90–4.00 m deep on a movable floor; the Solebecken in the open air with neck showers and whirl loungers at 27–33 °C over 164 m² and 1.30 m deep; and a whirlpool at 26–32 °C over 15 m². No total pool count is published, so the enumeration is reproduced rather than summed.

The open-air lido adds a second set of pools in summer: a Funbecken with a 77-metre spiral slide, current channel, neck showers and whirl loungers at 22–27 °C over 590 m²; a children's pool with a slide, water games, spray jets and dammable channels at 22–27 °C and 0.30 m deep; and a sports pool with 8 lanes and diving towers at 1, 3 and 5 metres at 22–27 °C over 1,350 m², 1.80–3.80 m deep. The outdoor area covers 12,000 m² with a large lawn, an outdoor bar, a children's playground with a sand-and-mud zone and climbing course, and beach volleyball and beach soccer courts. The two sources differ on when the lido opens: the operator's own pools page says the outdoor bath is open from June to early September, while the Brixen tourism portal's Acquarena page says the outdoor pools are open from the end of May to early September. Both statements are reported here; the operator's hours page simply notes the lido runs 9:00–19:30 in the summer months.

The sauna landscape is listed cabin by cabin: two Finnish outdoor saunas, a Finnish panorama sauna on the roof terrace, a Finnish indoor sauna, a steam bath, a bio pine sauna and a herbal sauna, plus an infrared cabin. Published temperatures are 85–100 °C for the Finnish outdoor and panorama cabins, 75–85 °C for the Finnish indoor sauna, 40–50 °C at 95–100% humidity for the steam bath, 50–70 °C with colour-light therapy in the bio pine cabin, 60–65 °C at 40–45% humidity in the herbal sauna, and about 45 °C in the infrared cabin. Infusions last 10–12 minutes and are held in one of the Finnish cabins. All sauna cabins and sauna water areas are nude areas. A sun terrace with a whirlpool and a roof terrace with a panorama view over the surrounding hill country and the Plose complete the sauna area. Wellness and beauty treatments, a physiotherapy department (Monday to Friday 07:30–18:00, by appointment) and a gym are also on site.

Published hours: the indoor bath daily 9:00–22:00 and the lido 9:00–19:30 in the summer months; the sauna Monday to Wednesday and Friday 13:00–22:00, Thursday 10:00–17:00 as a women's sauna and 17:00–22:00 mixed, and Saturday, Sunday, public holidays and high season 10:00–22:00; the gym daily 6:00–22:00, and 5:30–22:00 from 1 June to 31 August. On 24 and 31 December the whole facility closes at 18:00. The indoor pools close at 21:45, the lido pools at 19:30 and the sauna area at 21:45. The price list is issued as a separate document and no admission figures are printed on the pages read, so none are given.
