About

Szent Erzsébet Gyógyfürdő is the bath of Mórahalom, a small town in Csongrád-Csanád county close to the Serbian border, and it is run by the municipality rather than by a hotel chain. The operator traces its medicinal water to the sedimentary layers of the Pannonian primordial sea and describes it as coloured; the pools fed by it are given as 35-39 °C. The officially registered indications run wider than most Hungarian baths advertise: arthritis outside its acute phase, arthrosis, chronic inflammatory and degenerative diseases of the spine, rehabilitation after central nervous system disease and paralysis, chronic neuralgia and neuritis, chronic skin conditions including eczema and psoriasis, sports injuries, chronic gynaecological and urological complaints, chronic gastritis and infertility. A medical department offers more than thirty spa and wellness treatments, of which eight, among them weight bath, mud pack, carbonated bath and underwater hydromassage, are available on a doctor's referral under social security.

The bathing side is divided into three parts that share one main entrance. The thermal bath proper holds the medicinal pools, listed as a swim training medicinal pool, an indoor curved pool, an indoor weight bath pool, an outdoor medicinal pool, an outdoor adventure and training pool, a relax thermal pool and a Kneipp treadmill pool. The indoor children's bath, an adventure hall of more than 3,000 m², adds an adventure pool, a jacuzzi, a splashing pool and a baby paddling pool alongside the Anaconda slide at 11 m high and 103 m long, a second indoor slide of 9 m and 76 m, a slide with a speedometer and a 148 cm elephant slide for the smallest children. The summer lido occupies a landscaped green area of 15,000 m² with a swimming pool tented over in winter, a slide adventure pool, an event pool with a wave ball, underwater massage beds and a cocktail bar, a beach volleyball court and a playground. In summer 21 pools operate in total; in winter the operator gives 17.

The sauna park is the other draw. Ten sauna cabins and a steam room are grouped in a Sauna World, with a Finnish sauna of 10.6 m² running at 70-100 °C, an aromatherapy sauna of 12.2 m², a 4.67 m² infrared cabin at 50-60 °C and a 21.41 m² steam bath at 35-40 °C, plus bio, Russian and salt cabins, and cooling by splash pool, Kneipp pool and slush bath. Upstairs from the children's bath a separately ticketed Quiet Wellness Premium Spa Area adds a Finnish pine sauna seating 40, an infrared cabin, an outdoor Russian sauna, an ice well and a tropical experience shower for an extra 2,500 HUF plus a 2,000 HUF wristband deposit, and runs designated textile-free Fridays. Sauna masters lead weekly programmes. Ordinary opening is 8-20, extended to 22:00 from Thursday to Saturday.
