Gyógy-, Park- és Élményfürdő

Gyopárosfürdő is a thermal and medicinal bath in Orosháza, in south-eastern Hungary, set within an extensive lakeside park. Its healing water was officially declared medicinal water in 1999, and the site was formally designated a healing spa resort (gyógyhely) in 2016. The complex brings together open-air and covered thermal pools, a large recreational strand, an indoor adventure bath, a sauna park, and a dedicated medical and wellness centre.

Thermal and medicinal water

The water is drawn from a well roughly 670 metres deep and is classified as an alkaline hydrogen-carbonate medicinal water with a high metasilicic acid content. It emerges from the source at about 47 degrees Celsius and is cooled to therapeutic temperatures for use in the pools. According to the site, at temperatures below 34 degrees the water has an anti-inflammatory effect, while warmer water helps to relieve muscular tension.

Medical indications and treatment

The medicinal water is used for a range of conditions the venue lists, including cartilage wear, degeneration of the spine, joint inflammation and osteoporosis, gynaecological and urological complaints, skin conditions such as eczema, lichen and psoriasis, respiratory ailments, nervous-system disorders, and recovery following stroke, as well as support for Parkinson's disease and post-operative rehabilitation. A Rehabilitation and Wellness Centre provides balneotherapy treatments supported by the Hungarian national health fund (NEAK), alongside massage and wellness services, and the site notes that medical consultations are offered.

Pools and bathing areas

Bathing is spread across several areas. Outdoor and indoor thermal pools operate year-round, complemented by a 50-metre swimming pool with an adjoining teaching pool that runs in the warmer season, a tower pool, and a children's pool. An indoor adventure bath adds experience pools with a current channel, a lying massage feature, neck showers, a jacuzzi and a slide.

Sauna park

The sauna park offers several cabin types, including Finnish saunas, a steam cabin, an aroma cabin, a light-therapy bio-sauna and an infrared cabin, and hosts scheduled sauna sessions. A solarium, a fitness room and massage services are also available in this area, which is governed by a posted sauna etiquette code.

Setting and grounds

The bathing complex sits within a green strand of around ten hectares, surrounded by roughly twenty hectares of landscaped forest park. The adjoining lake is used for boating and water bikes, and the grounds include a beach volleyball court and camping facilities.

Opening hours

The thermal bath is open Monday to Friday from 07:00 to 19:00 and on weekends and public holidays from 09:00 to 20:00. The indoor adventure bath opens 09:00 to 20:00 on weekdays and Sundays and until midnight on Saturdays, while the park bath (strand) is open daily 09:00 to 20:00. Ticket sales close one hour before closing time.
