About
The Kiskunhalasi Termál Gyógyfürdő és Strand, known as Halasthermál, is a year-round bathing complex in Kiskunhalas that combines a thermal medicinal bath, an indoor swimming hall, an open-air summer beach and a campsite. It is built on the town's own thermal medicinal water and offers sport, wellness and medical services on a single site.
Thermal water
The bath draws on Kiskunhalas's local thermal water, which emerges at 48°C. It is described as an alkaline hydrogen-carbonate medicinal water that also contains fluoride and iodine, its notable iodide-ion content being the basis for its classification as an iodine-bearing medicinal water. The bath water was granted medicinal-water qualification in 1983, a status reinforced in 2003.
Pools
The indoor swimming hall holds three pools: a thermal medicinal pool at 36°C, an adult swimming pool at 26°C, and a children's pool at 31°C. The summer beach area also has three pools: a 50-metre pool suitable for competitions, a 130 m² children's pool fitted with water-circulating adventure features, and a smaller thermal medicinal pool at 36°C.
Medicinal indications
According to the bath, the medicinal water can be applied for rheumatological and musculoskeletal conditions, for easing gynaecological complaints, for the after-care of accident injuries and rehabilitation following surgery, and for neurological and peripheral circulatory diseases. It is also noted for degenerative joint disease, cartilage wear and post-fracture rehabilitation.
Services and treatments
The site provides a range of wellness, beauty and medical services. These include a sauna, massage, underwater jet-massage, a phototherapy standing solarium, and manicure-pedicure.
History and status
The Kiskunhalas bath opened in 1958 and has operated year-round since 1972. The bath and its surroundings received spa-resort status in 2016. The thermal bath and campsite together form one of the town's principal tourist centres.
