A town-run spa on the Danube–Tisza sand ridge where 54 °C saline water from over a kilometre down feeds two twin thermal basins, set next to a lido, an indoor teaching hall and a campsite for fifty caravans.

About

Kiskőrös sits on a hot water field, and the Rónaszéki bath is built directly on it. The operator, the town's Kőrösszolg non-profit company, puts the source at roughly 1,000 to 1,100 metres and 54 degrees: a highly saline sodium chloride and hydrogen carbonate water carrying iodine and bromine, with a fluoride content it calls significant. It is recommended there for rheumatic, locomotor, degenerative and gynaecological conditions. The bath is inside the built-up part of the town rather than out on the plain, and the lido is rated for about two thousand visitors a day.

Seven basins are listed across the two site pages. The thermal water fills a pair of twin pools, roofed overhead but open at the sides and fitted with air-bubble seats, so they can be used in cold weather. The open-air section adds a swimming pool of 25 by 15 metres at 1.5 metres depth and a learner pool of 12 by 6 metres at 70 cm, both on circulation and tempered rather than thermal, plus a paddling pool shaded by a sun sail. The indoor teaching hall holds two more: a 25 by 12 metre swimming pool and a second learner pool of the same 12 by 6 metre plan.

Dry heat is handled by a Finnish sauna and an infrared cabin with a steam room beside them, the steam room worked at 38 to 48 degrees, and the outdoor sauna has been given light therapy. Two masseurs work on site — a refreshing and relaxing massage on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays by appointment, Swedish massage Monday to Saturday — at 4,000 to 8,500 forints a session, and gift vouchers are sold for one to ten visits. An unusual extra is a supervised try-dive, offered to swimmers aged eight and over. The campsite forms one property with the bath, lies in a green park setting, takes fifty caravans at a time and has hosted national camping meets; buffets serve the lido. The bath is open every day of the week from 08:00 to 20:00.
