Kecskeméti Fürdő

Kecskeméti Fürdő is a large public bath complex in Kecskemét, Hungary, operated by Hírős Sport Nonprofit Kft. The site describes a five-star-rated facility with 17 pools and roughly 2,900 m² of total water surface, combining a competition swimming area, an experience bath, therapeutic pools, a sauna world, and a wellness and medical centre under one roof.

The water

The therapeutic pools are supplied by the Hírös medicinal water (Hírös Gyógyvíz), drawn from a well reaching 1,001 metres in depth, with a source temperature of 48°C and a pH of 7.88. Its recognition as a medicinal water is recorded under the designation OTH-GYOGYF 221-10/2012. The site reports the water as high in sodium (around 1,616 mg/l) and bicarbonate (around 2,031 mg/l), and as also containing iron and manganese. According to the venue, the water is suited to treating wear-type joint and spine complaints, easing muscle pain and chronic nerve inflammation, and supporting recovery after accidents, injuries, and orthopaedic surgery. Use of the therapeutic pools is limited to visitors aged 14 and over, with a recommended maximum bathing time of two 30-minute sessions per day.

Therapeutic pools

There are two therapeutic pools, one indoor and one outdoor, both open year-round and each with a water depth of 100 cm. The indoor pool is kept at 34-36°C and the outdoor pool at 36-38°C. Both offer seats with back and lumbar massage jets and underwater lighting; the outdoor pool additionally has bubble air jets and neck showers.

Competition pools

The swimming area centres on a 50 x 25 m competition pool with ten lanes, a depth of 220 cm, and a water temperature of 26-28°C. It has a movable bulkhead that can divide it into two 25 m pools, underwater speakers, and seating for 700 spectators. A separate 25 x 16 m pool provides six lanes at 180 cm depth for amateur swimmers and warm-ups, and a 5.5 x 14 m teaching pool (80 cm deep, 28-30°C) is used for lessons.

Experience bath

The experience bath (élményfürdő) groups nine pools, most of them indoor, including a wave pool with a jump rock, a current pool, children's and baby pools, a jacuzzi, and a panorama pool on the Caribbean terrace, alongside outdoor experience and children's pools. Water temperatures across these pools range from about 28°C to 36°C. Two enclosed slides launch from a 12-metre height: the green Aquatube at 86 metres long and the blue Black Hole at 124 metres, with a minimum shoulder-height requirement of 120 cm.

Sauna world

The sauna world (szaunavilág) holds three Finnish saunas, including an outdoor naturist cabin, with temperatures reaching 90-100°C in the hottest, plus two infrared saunas. It also features an aroma cabin, a steam cabin, a Himalayan salt room, a tepidarium, indoor and outdoor hot tubs, a plunge pool cooled to 12-14°C, and an ice well.

Facilities

Beyond the pools, the complex offers a wellness and medical centre, a hotel, a restaurant and buffet, a fitness centre, a fish pedicure service, and a swimming-equipment shop. The venue also runs the separate Széktói Strand beach facility.

Visiting

The competition pools, therapeutic pools, and experience bath are open daily from 6:00 to 20:30. Sauna world and water-slide hours vary by season; the slides run weekday afternoons from 14:00 and open earlier, at 9:00, on weekends, public holidays, and school breaks.
