Gyomaendrődi Liget Gyógyfürdő

The Liget Gyógyfürdő occupies 2.4 hectares under the trees of the Erzsébet park in Gyomaendrőd, in Békés county, and is run together with an adjoining campsite. The operator dates the bath's history to 1959, when construction began; significant works followed in the 1990s, including the installation of water-circulation plant. The decisive phase was a 870 million forint investment started in 2002, financed by the town itself (400 million forint) together with the Széchenyi Plan and a PHARE programme; the rebuilt and enlarged bath was formally handed over on 8 May 2004.

The water was declared medicinal on 11 October 1960. The operator describes it as an alkaline hydrogen-carbonate thermal water containing a significant quantity of fluoride, with potassium, sodium, ammonium, calcium, iron, chloride, bromide, iodide, sulphate, hydrogen carbonate, metaboric acid and metasilicic acid among its constituents; the water emerges at 60.5 °C. Two laboratory analyses are printed side by side, from 1958 and 2005, with totals of 1673.30 mg and 1724.50 mg respectively; hydrogen carbonate dominates at 1110.20 and 1122 mg, sodium at 450.57 and 433 mg. Regular bathing is recommended by the operator for chronic rheumatic and gouty complaints, neuralgia and sciatica, and for fractures, contractures, ovarian inflammation and chronic inflammations. The water is also offered as a drinking cure, said to suit chronic catarrh of the mucous membranes, enteritis, gall-bladder catarrh, inflammation of the renal pelvis, digestive disorders, heartburn and gastric ulcer; the operator states that the drinking cure is not advised where stomach acid is absent or low.

Outdoors there are four pools: a 620 m³ beach pool deepening continuously to 170 cm at 25 °C, with a slide, three rotating water cannons and a water trail; an 800 m³ paddling pool 30 cm deep at 32 °C with a slide and mushroom shower; a therapeutic pool 90 cm deep at 39–40 °C; and an 800 m³ swimming pool 180–220 cm deep at 24 °C. The covered part lists a 11 × 25 m teaching pool of 330 m³ at 27 °C, an oval relaxation pool of 60 m³ at 34 °C with wall massage, neck shower, foot massage, a bubbler and a jacuzzi, an indoor paddling pool with slide and water spout, two thermal treatment pools of 13.8 m³ at 40 °C and 21.5 m³ at 36 °C, and a 3 m³ cold plunge pool serving the sauna. The operator's pages do not agree on some of these figures: the descriptive page gives the teaching pool as 90–150 cm at 27–29 °C and the relaxation pool at 35–36 °C, while the pool list gives 90–160 cm at 27 °C and 34 °C; the same page also describes the covered building as offering a choice of three pools, where the pool list names six covered basins. The times for the relaxation pool's jets differ too, 11:00–13:00 and 15:00–19:00 on the pool page against 11:00–19:00 every thirty minutes in the site footer.

Other facilities are a Finnish sauna and an infrared sauna, a buffet, a Volkswagen Spray Park water playground, a water trail obstacle course, a beach volleyball court, giant chess and sun loungers; accommodation is available on site in wooden cabins, guest rooms and the campsite. The therapeutic department offers a complete physiotherapy programme, including medicinal gymnastics, four-cell galvanic treatment, carbonated baths, water-jet massage and other physiotherapy treatments, with a rheumatology consultation on Tuesdays from 12:00 to 14:00. The bath is open 9:30–20:00, with the cash desk to 19:00, the pools to 19:30, the therapy department 9:40–18:40 and the sauna 14:00–19:00.
