Wonnemar Sonthofen

WONNEMAR Sonthofen is a leisure and thermal bath in Sonthofen in the Oberallgäu district of Bavaria, one of seven baths that the German Wikipedia disambiguation page lists under the WONNEMAR name; the Sonthofen site is classed there as a Freizeit- und Thermalbad. The complex is split into a Spaß- und Sportbad, a Thermalbereich, a Saunawelt, a SPA treatment area and a restaurant, each with its own opening hours. The outdoor pools and sauna garden face the Allgäu Alps and the mountains above Oberstdorf.

The operator publishes a table of pool temperatures rather than a count of pools. In the Badewelt the sports pool is 27 °C, the adventure wave pool with current channel 30.5 °C, the outdoor adventure pool 31.5 °C, the children's pool 34.5 °C, the whirlpool 33.5 °C and the slides 27 °C. In the Thermalbereich the outdoor brine pool is given as 33 °C in the table, the cascade pool 34.5 °C, the thalasso and massage pool 36 °C and the outdoor whirlpool 33.5 °C. In the Saunawelt the sauna warm pool is 33.5 °C and the cooling pool 18 °C. The description of the brine outdoor pool on the Thermalbereich page states 32 °C rather than the 33 °C in the table, so the two operator pages disagree by one degree.

The thermal area is described as combining warm thermal water with fresh sparkling mineral water and contains, besides the pools listed above, a Kneipp treading pool, a Kneipp plunge pool, a brine inhalation gallery, a Roman steam bath, infrared loungers and floating loungers. Three saunas are named: an indoor Finnish sauna at 95 °C with infusions every two hours, a solid log-cabin sauna in the sauna garden at 95 to 100 °C, and a milder Vital sauna at 65 °C with humidity of at most 25 per cent; an infrared cabin and a water massage lounger sit alongside them. No sauna count is published.

The bath is open daily all year. Summer hours run from 1 May to 30 September 2026, with the Spaß- und Sportbad and the Thermalbereich open 10:00 to 21:00 and the Saunawelt 12:00 to 21:00. Winter hours from 1 October 2026 to 30 April 2027 keep the pools at 10:00 to 21:00 and extend the Saunawelt to 22:00. Last admission is one and a half hours before closing. The bath is closed entirely on 24 December.
