Westfalen Therme

The Westfalen Therme stands at Schwimmbadstrasse 14 in Bad Lippspringe, in eastern Westphalia. The operator's own pages make no statement at all about where the water comes from: they call one basin a Thermalbecken and the house a Therme, but no spring name, no borehole depth and no water analysis appears anywhere on the site. The source claim comes instead from German Wikipedia, which states that the bath is fed with thermal water from the Martinusquelle, the youngest of the Bad Lippspringe springs, drilled in 1962 in the spa forest north-west of the town. It describes the water as a fluoride-bearing calcium-sodium-sulphate-bicarbonate thermal water at 27.8 degrees, with a yield of 2,000 litres per minute, classed as Heilwasser. The same source says the spring today feeds the thermal open-air pool, the municipal indoor pool and the private Westfalen Therme alike. No published ion table or certificate is reproduced on the operator's site, so the analysis is second-hand.

The water world is built around two water slides of 75 m and 125 m fitted with timing equipment, a current channel, a waterfall, water cannon and fountains, a whirlpool grotto, and diving boards at 1 and 3 metres. There is a Piratenland with an adventure ship and a Giant Splasher, and a separate toddler area with water games. The pool side is enumerated rather than totalled: a thermal basin at 32 degrees, whirlpools at 35 degrees, massage loungers and a 25 m sports pool. Wikipedia counts four pools indoors and outdoors in the thermal world, filled at between 30 and 34 degrees, which does not line up exactly with the operator's own enumeration, so no pool total is recorded here.

The sauna world covers 6,000 square metres over three floors and is likewise listed item by item: infusion saunas at 75, 85 and 95 degrees, a eucalyptus sauna at about 60, a herb sauna at about 55, a bio sauna at about 60, and a steam bath, with up to 20 infusions offered. The WALDgarten annexe adds a panoramic tree-house sauna 12 metres up, a 100 square metre event sauna, a 40 square metre Jaerve earth sauna in the Waldhaus, a natural pond, a 34-degree infinity pool and a 200 square metre roof terrace; the Asia Lounge has a rooftop pool at 34 degrees. The Salinarium is a textile-only brine and salt area for visitors aged 16 and over, with a floating basin at 12 per cent brine, an indoor graduation house running at 3 to 6 per cent, and a salt-gallery sauna misted at 6 per cent brine with air at about 60 degrees.

Opening hours are 9:00 to 22:00 Sunday to Thursday and 9:00 to 23:00 Friday and Saturday, for the water world, the sauna world and the Salinarium alike; the 25 m sports pool keeps its own narrower schedule and early-swimmer slots. Published admission for the water world without sauna is 18.00 euro for three hours on weekdays and 20.00 euro at weekends, rising to 22.00 and 24.00 euro for a day ticket; sauna costs 12.00 euro extra per person and the Salinarium 6.00 euro. Wikipedia dates construction to the mid-1980s to designs by Heribert Stork and gives the site area as about 18,000 square metres; no exact opening year is published, so none is recorded.
