Aqualip

Aqualip is the leisure bath of the Detmold municipal utility, Stadtwerke Detmold GmbH, at Georg-Weerth-Straße 19 in Detmold, East Westphalia. The operator describes a sport and leisure offer on 1,000 square metres. The indoor hall enumerates a large adventure pool with whirl loungers, massage jets, cascade showers and a current channel at 30 °C and 1.35 m deep; a hot whirlpool at 36 °C; a brine pool at 34 °C, 1.35 m deep, with a salt content of about 2 per cent and a recommended stay of no more than 15 minutes; a sports pool with five 25-metre lanes, starting blocks and two diving platforms of 1 m and 3 m, at 27 °C and 1.80 to 3.60 m deep, with a lift for barrier-free entry; a steam bath at 44 °C and 100 per cent humidity; a heated baby pool at 33 °C and 0.40 m deep with an adjoining changing room; and a teaching pool on two 12.5-metre lanes at 33 °C and 0.85 to 1.35 m deep.

Two water slides start from a twelve-metre slide tower. The AquaTube is a tyre slide of 110 m with three interactive themed worlds, interactive light and sound effects, ten touch points, fake elements and running lights, ridden on single or double tyres. The Infinity is an action slide of 100 m with daylight effects, running lights, fake elements, strobes and tunnel and rotation effects, timed for a personal best, on which tyres are forbidden for safety reasons. Both carry a minimum age of six, children under six only in adult company. Construction of the tower and of the second slide, the AquaTube, began in September 2018, the route of the Infinity was rebuilt at the same time so that both slides now start from the tower, and the slides were inaugurated in January 2020.

An outdoor section opens for a summer season whose start and end depend on the weather and are announced on the website: an outdoor pool with four 25-metre lanes at 24 °C and 1.35 m deep, a shallow outdoor paddling pool with a large water mushroom at 29 °C, a lawn of 5,000 square metres and a small playground with a slide, a sandpit and rocking animals. The Saunaland is a separate area with a Finnish 90 °C sauna indoors, a tepidarium at a mild 55 °C with changing light colours, a steam sauna with eucalyptus vapour and an outdoor infusion sauna at 80 °C with changing essential-oil infusions, plus a sauna bar with lounge, a quiet room and massages by prior arrangement. At the time of writing the operator states that the 90-degree sauna is out of service because of a technical defect.

Bath opening hours are Monday to Friday 06:30–08:00 and 11:00–21:30, Saturday, Sunday and public holidays 09:00–21:30, and Monday to Friday during North Rhine-Westphalian school holidays 10:00–21:30, with last admission at 20:30; children under seven are admitted only in the company of an adult, and pools are partly occupied at set times by school swimming, club training and courses. The sauna keeps a summer timetable until autumn, closed Wednesdays and Saturdays, otherwise Monday 14:00–21:00 for women, Tuesday 14:00–21:00, Thursday 14:00–22:00, Friday 14:00–21:00 and Sunday and public holidays 12:00–21:00. Bath tariffs valid from 1 April 2026 run from 4.30 euro for the early slot and 5.80 euro for a 90-minute sport ticket to 10.90 euro for Fit & Fun, 13.90 euro for a day ticket and 9.60 euro after 19:00, with a bath-and-sauna combination ticket at 20.00 euro and a family ticket for two guardians and four children at 25.00 or 32.00 euro.
