About

The Watzmann Therme is a family-oriented thermal bath in Berchtesgaden, Bavaria, that centres on the "Original Berchtesgadener Alpensole" (Berchtesgaden Alpine brine). Across roughly 900 m² of water surface, the site combines recreational swimming, a sports pool and brine-based relaxation areas, and it advertises panoramic views over the Berchtesgaden town centre and the surrounding mountains.

Pools and water

The site states an experience pool ("Erlebnisbecken") kept at approximately 30 C, which contains a current channel ("Stroemungskanal") and underwater loungers with massage jets. A 25 m swimming and sports pool offers four lanes. The brine (Sole) is offered in a warm indoor brine pool ("Soleinnenbecken"), described as cleansing the skin, strengthening the upper skin layers and stimulating circulation, and in an outdoor brine pool ("Solebecken Aussen") that includes an integrated waterfall and underwater loungers. Families with young children have a dedicated parent-child water area with play equipment.

Slide and play areas

An 80 m slide called the "Berchtesgadener Teufelsmuehle" features timing and light effects. There is also a colourful parent-child area, a dry play area and a children's WC with changing table.

Sauna and wellness

The facility lists multiple saunas, an infrared cabin and a steam bath, with sauna infusions ("Aufguss") normally held each hour between roughly 11:00 and 21:00, plus themed "Lange Saunanaechte" events. Further relaxation features named by the site include a brine grotto ("Solegrotte"), a warmth grotto ("Waermegrotte"), a salt-light relaxation bath ("Salz-Licht-Entspannungsbad") and a colour-light bath ("Farblicht-Bad").

Facilities

Additional features listed include a sun gallery ("Sonnengalerie"), an outdoor area with a volleyball court, and on-site gastronomy serving snacks and dishes. There is free parking in front of the building.

Hours and admission

The Watzmann Therme is open daily, including public holidays, from 10:00 to 22:00. It is closed all day on 24 December, and on 31 December operates reduced hours of 10:00 to 15:00. Tickets are sold for 2 hours, 4 hours or a full day; groups of ten or more receive a 10% discount on base admission. Sauna access is an add-on at 7.20 EUR per person. Restaurant guests spending at least 5 EUR per person receive a 30-minute time credit on their visit.
