Trixi-Bad
The Trixi-Bad in Großschönau is the bathing part of the Trixi holiday park: its indoor leisure bath has been shut for a full modernisation since 23 February 2026, while the sauna landscape with a brine indoor pool and graduation tower and the open-air Waldstrandbad stay open to day visitors.
About
The Trixi-Bad belongs to TRIXI-Park GmbH in Großschönau in the Zittau Mountains, on a site that also holds a hotel, holiday houses and a campsite; only the bathing and sauna sections are described here. Day guests are admitted: the operator writes that the sauna landscape and the indoor pool are open "für alle Tages- und Übernachtungsgäste", and it publishes a day tariff for the open-air bath as well.
The indoor leisure bath is currently not open. The operator's construction diary records that on 23 February 2026 the Freizeitbad was closed to begin extensive modernisation and building works, that the project started with demolition, and that in June 2026 the first assembly work began in the area of the slide installation while rooms were restructured. A ceremony in April 2026 lifted the metal capsule placed in the foundation in 1996; a December 2025 entry speaks of 26 years of operation before the works. No reopening date is published in what the diary shows, and the entries carry an inconsistency worth noting: they run newest first from December 2025 through June 2026, but the topmost entry, about the entrance area and changing rooms, is headed JUNI 2027.
What remains open is the sauna landscape with its indoor pool. The operator's list gives an indoor pool with a graduation tower (Gradierwerk), "3 Saunen von 55°C – 97°C", one Soletherme, one steam cabin and an infrared cabin. The water on this side is brine rather than thermal or plain: the modernisation page says the Solebad is being opened as the pool, and the sauna list names a Soletherme; no concentration or analysis is published. Two cabins are described individually, a Finnish sauna with a quiet area at 90°C with an infusion once an hour, and a Blockhaus sauna at 90°C where a home-made garlic infusion is served up to three times a day and the sauna master then leads guests to the Waldstrandbad to cool off — so the stated 97°C top of the range is not matched by any named cabin. Infusions use only natural products. The sauna opens daily 13:00-21:00; Wednesdays until 17:30 are women-only outside holidays and Saxon school holidays, and daily 13:00 to 17:30 is family sauna in swimwear. Admission is 19.50 euro for adults in the summer tariff (May to September) and 21.50 euro in the winter tariff (October to April), with reduced rates at 17.50 and 19.50 euro; the sauna ticket is not sold online.
The Waldstrandbad is a separate open-air natural bath fed by mountain water, open from June to August, with a 10-metre diving tower, the Trixi walrus slide, a water-and-mud playground, a gondola pond and two kiosks. Hours vary with the weather but are guaranteed daily from 13:00 to 17:00, with the posted schedule 12:00-18:00. The day tariff is 4.50 euro for adults, 2.50 euro reduced and 12.75 euro for a family. From 13:00 daily it also serves as the cooling-off water for sauna guests in swimwear.
