Strausbad

The Strausbad is the indoor bath of the municipal operator Strausberger Bäder GmbH at Wriezener Straße 30a in Strausberg, Brandenburg. The operator describes the house as a swimming hall with a competition pool, an adventure pool and a children's pool, a 63-metre giant tube slide and a 120-square-metre sauna landscape. The sauna section is listed separately as a 120 m² sauna landscape with a dry sauna, a steam sauna and a plunge pool. The operator does not publish a pool total, water temperatures or pool dimensions for the present layout; the only measurement given is historical, the hall in Wriezener Straße having opened with a basin of 12.5 by 25 metres.

The house dates from 1974, built when every district town in the GDR was to receive a swimming hall; it was financed by the Nationale Volksarmee and stayed under its ownership until 1990, serving at once as public bath, training centre for competitive swimmers, venue for competitions, school swimming hall and army training facility. The one-millionth guest was received in 1980. The Bundeswehr took responsibility at the end of 1991 and the town of Strausberg from 1993; four years later the building had to close because of serious damage to the hot-water piping, and it was modernised, rebuilt and extended with European regional development funds. It reopened as the Strausbad in 1999 and has been run by Strausberger Bäder GmbH since the beginning of 2005.

Swimming-hall hours valid from 5 September 2026 are Monday 13:30–15:00 and 19:00–21:00 for lane swimming in the sports pool only, Tuesday closed all day for club sport, Wednesday 16:00–21:00, Thursday 06:30–08:00 and 19:00–21:00 for lane swimming only, Friday 16:30–21:00 with lane swimming 11:30–13:00, Saturday and Sunday 10:00–17:00, and closed on public holidays; during the lane-swimming slots jumping and sliding are not permitted. Last admission is 60 minutes before the Strausbad closes. The sauna runs its own season and its own timetable from 2 September 2026: Wednesday and Friday 14:00–21:00 mixed, Thursday 14:00–21:00 for women, Saturday and Sunday 10:00–17:00 mixed, Monday, Tuesday and public holidays closed, with last admission 120 minutes before closing.

Swimming-hall admission from 1 March 2026 is 3.50 euro for 60 minutes, 5.00 euro for 120 minutes and 8.00 euro for 180 minutes for an adult, with children up to their completed 16th year paying 3.50, 4.00 and 5.00 euro and children up to their completed third year free; a 90-minute lane-swimming ticket costs 4.50 euro for everyone, a family ticket for two adults and two children 14.00 euro for 120 minutes or 22.00 euro for 180 minutes, and each further 15 minutes 0.80 euro. Sauna admission is 12.00 euro for 120 minutes and 15.00 euro for 180 minutes for an adult and 5.00 and 7.00 euro for a child up to the completed 16th year. Card payment is accepted. The same operator also runs two further, separately located facilities that are not part of the Strausbad: the Seebadeanstalt lido on the shore of the Straussee at Fichteplatz 1, and a rowing-boat, pedalo and SUP rental on the Strausseepromenade.
