About
NaturTherme Templin is a thermal brine bath in the Brandenburg town of Templin, roughly an hour north of Berlin. The water is not plain heated tap water: it comes from a borehole drilled in 1998, and the operator writes that "Aus einer Tiefe von 1650 Metern gelangt das Heilwasser der NaturThermeTemplin nach oben" — the healing water rises from a depth of 1,650 metres. The same about-us page dates the thermal water horizon (Hettang sandstone) at roughly 1,620 metres and gives the undiluted brine a density of about 1.12 g/cm³ and a temperature at the wellhead of about 60°C. In the pools and in therapy the brine is diluted: "Im Bad und in der Therapie wird die Sole in Konzentrationen von 1–6 % bei Temperaturen von 30–36°C verwendet." The operator publishes an analysis of the raw brine listing, among others, chloride at 97,660 mg/l, sodium at 59,747 mg/l, sulphate at 2,097 mg/l, calcium at 2,185 mg/l and bromide at 129 mg/l.
The bathing hall is described area by area rather than as a pool count. A table on the Thermalsole page gives the Erlebnisbecken at 30–32°C with 1 % brine, the Wellenbecken (wave pool) at 30–32°C with 1 % brine, the small-children area at 30–33°C without brine, the Grottengang (grotto passage) at 34–36°C with 6 % brine, noted as 33°C in summer, and the whirlpools at 34–36°C with 1 to 3 % brine. The bath overview page adds a waterfall, current channels, a light-and-water organ, an air bubble pool and three staggered brine whirlpools of differing concentration and temperature, plus a year-round heated outdoor brine pool with a rock grotto, waterfall, geyser and massage jets, and a wet-area bar and catering. Two slides are described: "Zwei große Erlebnisrutschen mit je ca. 100 m Länge" — a turbo slide with a clear glass cover and electronic time and speed measurement, and a Black Hole slide with light effects, projections and water curtains.
The sauna area is textile-free and has an ice fountain, rest areas, a sauna bar and a communication area with a fireplace. The operator contradicts itself on how many cabins there are: the homepage states "Sieben verschiedene Saunen stehen Ihnen zur Verfügung" (seven), while the sauna section page states that the area has in total eight different saunas, four indoors and four in the sauna garden. Both wordings are on the operator's own site and this text does not pick between them. Separate pages cover the indoor sauna, the sauna garden, an infusion schedule and a women's sauna. A wellness and therapy department offers massages, baths, a rasul, a hamam, Ayurveda and thalassotherapy treatments, alongside physiotherapy, electrotherapy and brine applications.
The bath opened on 11 November 2000, after two years of construction, in the presence of Angela Merkel; it closed for rebuilding from April to December 2006, when the wave pool was renewed and the therapy area rebuilt. Today the operator gives the site as 9,514 m² holding the bathing landscape, the sauna area with separate outdoor sections, and the wellness and therapy centre; a 47-pitch motorhome park opened alongside in 2017. The bathing landscape, brine bath, sauna landscape and wellness and therapy areas are open daily from 9:00 to 21:00. Published admission for the brine bath is 19.00 € for adults and 8.00 € for children aged 4 to 14 for two hours, with a day ticket over four hours at 29.00 € and 18.00 €; a weekend and public holiday surcharge of 3.00 € applies to adults, and the transfer to the sauna landscape costs 4.00 € extra per person. Sauna-inclusive two-hour tickets are listed at 23.00 € for adults and 12.00 € for children.
