About
SaarowTherme is a thermal brine bath at Am Kurpark 1 in Bad Saarow, on the shore of the Scharmützelsee in Brandenburg. Its waters come from the on-site Catharinenquelle, a natural brine spring tapped at roughly 450 metres below ground. The bath combines thermal brine pools, a multi-sauna landscape, a spa, and a health and therapy programme.
Thermal water
The Catharinenquelle brine emerges at about 21 °C at the wellhead, which the operator states qualifies it as thermal water. It has a total mineralisation of around 25 g per litre, with chloride (14.57 g/L) and sodium (8.65 g/L) as the dominant components, alongside calcium, sulfate, magnesium and hydrogen carbonate. According to the site, the brine is only lightly processed, with iron and manganese filtered out to preserve its natural quality.
Pools
The main thermal brine pool has connected indoor and outdoor sections, is heated up to about 36 °C and runs at a 3% brine concentration enriched with lithium and magnesium. Its features include four whirlpools, a current channel, underwater geysers, massage recesses, a massage pillar and neck showers. The indoor AquaSound pool, also at 3% brine, adds underwater music and gentle light effects. A separate outdoor freshwater sports pool is kept at 28 °C for swimming and endurance training.
Sauna
The sauna offering is split between the main building — KinoSauna, HikiSauna and BioSauna — and a separate panorama sauna building with a SalzSauna, KeloSauna, BrotbackSauna and a steam bath (Dampfbad) at around 45 °C, several with views over the Scharmützelsee. Sauna bars, rest zones and rooftop terraces round out the area, and a Rhasul mud treatment is available.
Spa and wellness
The spa provides beauty services (facials, manicure, pedicure, cosmetics, permanent make-up, hair removal) and wellness treatments including floating, massages, natural moor (mud) baths, body wraps, peelings and private spa options, plus exclusive experiences such as a moonlit moor bath and a champagne breakfast.
Health
A dedicated health programme addresses symptoms such as respiratory problems, restricted mobility, exhaustion, itching, head and back pain, digestive complaints, sleep disorders, numbness, dizziness, tinnitus and abdominal pain, supported by physiotherapy, alternative therapies and cure (Kur) offerings.
Visiting
Beyond the water areas the complex includes the Lotus Gourmet bath restaurant serving Asian cuisine, a salt oasis (SalzOase), a shop, and holiday apartments across from the Therme. In the summer season (through 31 August) it opens daily from 10:00 to 21:00, with Friday and Saturday evenings restricted to visitors aged 16 and over. A three-hour bath ticket costs €32.50 and a day ticket €37.50; sauna access and combined tickets are priced higher.
