Spreewald Therme

Spreewald Therme is a brine and thermal bath at Burg in the Spreewald, Brandenburg, with a sauna garden alongside the bathing hall. The venue works with brine of two different strengths, and dilutes a very concentrated raw brine down for bathing.

The water

The brine comes from 1,350 metres down, arrives at 31 °C and is described by the venue as a hundred million years old. Raw, it is extraordinarily concentrated — the venue gives 239 g of dissolved minerals per litre — and it is diluted for the pools; sodium and chloride dominate the analysis. The bath is designated Thermalsole.

Pools

Most basins carry a 2.5% brine: the indoor thermal pool at 34 °C with bubble seats, neck showers and a water mushroom; the warm outdoor pool at 35 °C with a current channel, a bubble grotto and a geyser; a spa pool at 36 °C; a hot pool at 38 °C under a waterfall; and a cold pool at 18 °C, also with a waterfall. The intensive brine pool is the strong one — an 8% brine at 36 °C, dense enough to float in. A movement pool at 29 °C is used for swimming and aqua gymnastics, and treading basins hold water at 18 °C and 30 °C for alternating baths. A steam bath inside a wooden barrel runs at 47 °C with full humidity, and there is a brine inhalation room at 40 to 45 °C.

Sauna garden

Six cabins: the Spreewald sauna at 90-95 °C with infusions every hour from 10:45, a fire sauna at 90 °C with a fireplace, a herb sauna at 90 °C with a kettle of essential oils, a rest sauna at 85 °C with an automatic soft infusion every half hour, a sanarium at 57 °C with 30-40% humidity, and an aroma steam bath at 45-48 °C, with a peeling on Mondays, Wednesdays and Sundays at 14:15 and 19:15.

Visiting

The bath opens from 09:00 to 22:00 from Saturday to Thursday and until midnight on Fridays, and has step-free access. An adult day ticket is 23 EUR, a shorter stay 21 EUR and a child's day ticket 17 EUR. The venue notes its hotel is closed from 31 August to 12 December for modernisation while the bath stays open.
