Freizeitbad baff

The baff is the indoor leisure and sports pool of the Westend sports centre in Eberswalde, run by the municipal utility Technische Werke Eberswalde. The operator gives each basin and its temperature but never says where the water comes from, and claims no spring, well or thermal water. Three pools are held at 28 °C: a 25-metre sports pool with five lanes, a non-swimmer pool 0.90 to 1.25 metres deep with a counter-current unit, and a family pool 0.90 to 1.10 metres deep with massage jets and a flow channel.

Two basins are warmer, at 34 °C: a baby pool up to 0.30 metres deep with a mushroom fountain and air jets, and a pair of whirlpools of about 2 by 3 metres, which run alternately rather than together. The 83-metre black hole slide ends in a run-out pool half a metre deep. The one outdoor pool is unheated — about 18 °C, varying with the weather, and closed through autumn and winter.

The sauna floor has four cabins: a log sauna on the roof terrace at 90 °C, with hand-poured infusions on even hours; a Finnish sauna, also 90 °C, with an automatic infusion three times an hour; an infrared cabin at 60 °C, mild enough for children; and a steam sauna at 50 °C with 80 to 100 per cent humidity. A plunge pool, cascade shower and quiet rooms sit downstairs.

The hall opens 07.00–21.00 Monday to Friday, 08.00–21.00 on Saturday and 10.00–17.00 on Sunday and public holidays, with the last entry an hour before closing.
