NASS - Neues Freizeitbad Arnsberg GmbH

The NASS is run by Neues Freizeitbad Arnsberg GmbH at Am Solepark 15 in the Huesten district of Arnsberg, and combines a leisure bath, a sauna world, a fitness club and a massage and wellness department. Its water is the reason the address is called Solepark: when Stadtwerke Arnsberg drilled for geothermal heat they struck thermal brine at a depth of 600 metres immediately next to the bath, which the operator describes as the only thermal brine spring in the Sauerland. The German Wikipedia article on Arnsberg tells the same story from the town's side, recording that the attempt to use geothermal energy for the new leisure bath hit a brine-bearing spring and that the water is used for a thermal brine park with a graduation house and a brine bubbler.

Two outdoor pools are fed with that brine, one in the bathing world and one in the sauna world, both at 32 degrees; the operator gives the sauna-garden brine pool as 35 square metres. In the landscaped outdoor area stands a Saline, a graduation house 40 metres long and 8 metres high holding around 170,000 litres of the brine. Its blackthorn brushwood walls are trickled with brine droplets of 6 to 10 per cent, which the operator says charges the air with fine salt aerosols and produces a maritime climate. The bathing area itself has a sports pool, used part of the time by schools and clubs to a published occupancy plan and open to swimmers alone from 06:00 to 09:00 on weekdays, and an 80-metre water slide that on weekdays only starts running at 14:00. Beyond the brine pools and the slide the operator publishes no dimensions or temperatures for the indoor pools, and no total pool count, so none is stated here. Two teaching pools that appear on the same website, at Am Solepark 17 and at Auf der Alm 125, are reserved for schools, clubs and institutions with no public bathing, and the second is a separate building elsewhere in the town; neither belongs to the public bath described here.

The sauna world holds eight cabins and two steam rooms, each with a published temperature and capacity. Indoors are the Kraeuterbad at 75 C for up to 15 people with essential herb oils, the Spektralbad at 65 C for up to 15 with colour play, the Aufguss-Sauna at 85 C for up to 40 with backlit panorama windows and timber taken from a former Austrian chalet, the Klangsauna at 80 C for up to 20 with sounds and rose oils, and the Kristallbad at 60 C for up to 20 with humidity raised to about 20 per cent. The two steam rooms both run at 45 C: the natural steam bath for up to 12 people at close to 100 per cent humidity, and the Dampfbad der Sinne for up to 10 in Italian glass mosaic. Outdoors are the Maa-Sauna at 110 C for up to 15 with an open fire, the See-Sauna at 85 C for up to 20 overlooking the sauna lake, and the Waldsauna at 100 C for up to 60 next to the Arnsberger Wald nature park. For energy reasons the Kraeuterbad, Spektralbad, Dampfbad der Sinne, Kristallbad and See-Sauna are not heated during off-peak hours and come into operation around 12:00.

The bath is open Monday to Sunday 09:00 to 22:00, with the sports pool alone available Monday to Friday 06:00 to 09:00 except on public holidays in North Rhine-Westphalia; the sauna is open daily 10:00 to 22:00, and the fitness club Monday and Wednesday 08:00 to 21:00, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 09:00 to 21:00 and weekends 09:00 to 17:00. Admission to the bath is 8.70 euro for adults and 4.30 euro for children aged 4 to 16 on the 2.5-hour Relax tariff, and 10.80 and 5.50 euro for a day ticket, with a 1.00 euro surcharge at weekends and on public holidays and a family ticket at 23.00 euro. Short and off-peak tariffs run from 4.60 euro for adults, including a 75-minute sports-pool tariff in the early morning and a Mondschein tariff from 20:00. The sauna costs 25.00 euro for four hours and 29.00 euro for a day, with a 2.00 euro weekend and holiday surcharge. Overstaying moves the visitor to the next tariff, and there is a 2.00 euro late surcharge after 22:00.
