Familien- und Erlebnisbad Heringhausen

The Familien- und Erlebnisbad Heringhausen is the indoor bath of the Gemeinde Diemelsee, at Kirchstrasse 6 in 34519 Diemelsee-Heringhausen in northern Hesse, on the shore of the Diemelsee reservoir at the northern edge of the Sauerland. It is presented through the municipality's tourist-information pages rather than a site of its own, alongside the lake's bathing beaches and the open-air pool at Vasbeck, and the operator describes it as open all year for bathing, swimming, splashing and sauna. Admission is low and municipal in character, with day tickets, ten-visit cards and annual cards, a family ticket for two adults and up to three children, reduced rates for SauerlandCard holders, holders of a severe-disability pass with a degree of 50 or more and family-pass holders, free entry for children up to three, and free entry for holders of the regional MeineCard+ guest card.

The water side consists of a 29-degree indoor pool and an outdoor pool with a lounging lawn used in the summer months, a separate bubble pool, floor bubblers in the large basin, a massage shower and massage jets. The children's bathing landscape is a low basin at 32 degrees with a slide and a water dolphin, aimed at splashing and first contact with water rather than at any water-park attraction. A pool lift is installed for bathers with physical impairments. Alongside open bathing the municipality runs free aqua-fitness classes requiring only the bathing admission, two of them reserved for seniors and one open without registration, Seepferdchen swimming courses from age five, and children's birthday packages that can be combined with a visit to the Visionarium exhibition with its ball pool and quiz.

The sauna area holds a Roman steam bath and a Finnish dry sauna with colour therapy, a rest room and a brine grotto, and the operator lists it both as a general sauna and as a women's sauna. Sauna hours are short and limited to two days a week, Monday from 17:00 to 21:00 and Thursday from 15:00 to 21:00, and annual-card holders pay a reduced sauna supplement on request at the desk. Bath hours are longer: Monday and Thursday 13:00 to 21:00, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 09:00 to 21:00, Saturday 09:00 to 19:00, Sunday and public holidays 09:00 to 18:00, with last admission an hour before closing.

The water is plain heated water; nothing on the operator's pages describes a thermal or mineral source, and the brine grotto belongs to the sauna area rather than to any bathing basin. Two closures are published and matter for planning. The bath is shut for maintenance from 21 September to 2 October 2026, with a one-off timetable of 09:00 to 18:00 on 3 October, and the sauna is shut for the whole of the period from 1 July to 4 October 2026, so through the summer only the pools are available.
