Miramar

Miramar stands at Waidallee 100, 69469 Weinheim, run by miramar Freizeitzentrum Weinheim GmbH & Co. KG beside the Waidsee. German Wikipedia dates it precisely: the municipal swimming bath Miramar opened on 26 October 1973 after three years of construction, at a cost of five million Deutsche Mark. The sauna section followed in 1974 and the Therme annexe was taken into service in 2007. The site divides into three parts — Erlebnisbad with the slide world, the Salz & Kristall Therme, and the Saunaparadies.

Water character. This is a genuinely thermal venue, though the two available sources frame it differently and the distinction matters. The operator describes the Therme directly as "mineralreichen Thermal-Solewasser aus eigener Bohrung" — mineral-rich thermal brine water from its own borehole — and the sauna's large outdoor Solebecken as "das warme salzhaltige Thermalwasser". German Wikipedia instead says the bathing water has been heated since 2005 by geothermal energy from 1,200 metres depth, and reports that analysis of the thermal water found a lithium concentration of about 75 mg/l, drawn from Miocene tertiary sediments — far above the 1 to 3 mg/l of thermal waters at Bad Krozingen, Bad Bellingen, Steinenstadt and Mooswald. That 75 mg/l is a lithium figure only, not a total mineralisation, and neither source publishes a brine percentage or a source temperature. The thermal brine is confined to the Therme and the sauna's brine pool; the Erlebnisbad is not described as thermal — its wave pool is simply stated as 33 °C.

Salz & Kristall Therme. Wikipedia describes two indoor and two outdoor pools with thermal water at 33 to 37 degrees; the operator's own Therme page names a Rosenquarzbecken, where free water gymnastics led by therapists from the in-house AQUAfit physiotherapy practice runs daily, plus an Amethyst lounge on the outdoor grounds overlooking the Waidsee, a relax room and singing-bowl ceremonies. Therme admission includes the Erlebnisbad. A fire on the evening of 8 December 2024 largely destroyed the Therme, with damage put at around 20 million euro; Erlebnisbad and sauna world reopened in June 2025 and the Therme rebuild was expected to finish in summer 2026. The operator's current price list, valid from 1 July 2026, sells Therme tickets again.

Erlebnisbad and slides. The centre of the bath is the 33 °C wave pool, with a whirlpool, pool bar, a children's Dschungelbucht, and outdoors a current channel, playground and lawn. Wikipedia adds a children's pool and a massage pool. Ten slides are listed, all named with lengths where published: Krokodil, an open large-water slide of 58 metres ending in the wave pool; the Piratenrutsche, a 20-metre mini turbo slide; the Piranha racing slide at 242 metres with electronic timing; Blauer Wal at 20 metres; Typhoon, a 160-metre helix; Twister, 150 metres total with an 18-metre cone width and 13-metre funnel height; Splash, a funnel slide with a half-pipe finish; Hurricane Loop, a 16-metre free fall and double looping over 123 metres in total, with a 50–130 kg weight limit; Blizzard, a narrow high-speed tube; and Race, a 170-metre Aquaracer. From early October to the end of March a laser show runs every evening in the wave pool.

Saunaparadies. The operator states "Neun Saunen und ein Dampfbad", nine saunas and a steam bath, and publishes a temperature for each cabin: Aromasauna 85, Orangen-Zitronensauna 85, Biosauna 50, Sauna Maximus 80 (a large kelo sauna outdoors seating up to 250), Kristall-Sauna 85, Mühlenradsauna 80 at the lake, Jäger-Sauna 95, Baumsauna 90 and Banjasauna 85, alongside the Solebecken at 34. Note that the A-to-Z listing on the same site shows both a Schaumdampfbad and a Dampfbad, two steam rooms, against the single Dampfbad counted in the overview text. Also on site are a snow grotto, rest rooms, a fireplace lounge, an oriental hamam, a plunge pool and whirlpool, a foot-warming pool, a Kneipp treading pool and a barefoot path, plus the adjoining Waidsee, a natural lake with a sand beach used for nude bathing in summer. The whole sauna area is textile-free; children up to 12 may be in the general areas in swimwear with an adult.

Hours and admission. Erlebnisbad and sauna open daily: Monday to Thursday 9:30–22:00, Friday 9:30–24:00, Saturday 9:00–24:00, Sunday 9:00–22:00; bathing ends 30 minutes before closing. Slides run 10:00–21:30, or to 23:00 on Friday and Saturday, with the Hurricane Loop opening at 11:00. On Tuesdays the entire site is textile-free from 19:00 to 22:00, suspended during school holidays in Hesse, Baden-Württemberg and Rhineland-Palatinate. From 1 July 2026 an adult Erlebnisbad ticket is 26,90 € for four hours or 30,90 € for the day; Therme plus Erlebnisbad is 34,90 € and 38,90 €, with a 32,90 € Wednesday rate for guests aged 55 and over. Children aged 3–6 pay 9,90 € and young people 7–15 pay 20,90 € or 23,90 €.
