KissSalis Therme

The KissSalis Therme is the thermal bath of Bad Kissingen, in Bavaria — one of Germany's best-known spa towns, with seven healing springs of its own. The bath holds ten indoor and outdoor pools across 1,000 m² of water, with nine saunas and steam baths beside them and a fitness arena in the same building.

The water

The water comes from the Schönbornsprudel, one of the seven Bad Kissingen springs, and the venue classifies it as an iron-bearing sodium chloride acidulous spring, describing it as originally pure. It carries an official medicinal certification; sodium and chloride dominate the analysis. The venue states the water holds about twelve times the mineral content required as a minimum for a healing spring. According to the venue it suits rheumatism, joint and back complaints, cardiovascular conditions, stress, skin problems, respiratory illness and disorders of the nervous system, and it cites a University of Graz study finding that a 25-minute stay in thermal water measurably lowers cortisol.

How to bathe

The venue recommends about 20 minutes per session, starting in the cooler pools and moving to the warmer ones, swimming moderately and moving slowly, resting properly between sessions and drinking enough during the visit.

Visiting

The bath and sauna open daily from 09:00 to 22:00, and until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. The fitness arena runs 09:00 to 21:30 on weekdays and to 20:00 at weekends and on holidays; the restaurant closes at 21:30, half an hour later at the end of the week. A combined bath and sauna ticket costs 22 to 38 EUR depending on duration, and the bath alone 18 to 34 EUR; an adult day ticket is 28.90 EUR and a short ticket 15.30 EUR. Children up to 12 pay half.
