A quiet, low-key cure house set in an oak wood near the Christus lake in Saint-Paul-lès-Dax, built as an annexe to the residence it shares a wall with.

About

Thermes des Chênes is the Thermes Adour group's most rural house. It stands not in Dax itself but in Saint-Paul-lès-Dax, the smaller commune next door, inside an oak wood near the Christus lake, and the operator sells it on calm and on a personal welcome rather than on scale. The Résidence des Chênes is built into the same complex: 106 apartments of 40 m², five of them family-sized, each with a separate bedroom, a fitted kitchen and a balcony, so residents reach their treatment without crossing a road. A second option a short way off is the two-star Camping des Abesses, four hectares of woodland with 86 pitches and 46 mobile homes, which runs a free shuttle to the baths.

The treatment is the French conventionné cure, eighteen days prescribed by a doctor and reimbursed by the social insurance funds, with rheumatology and phlebology orientations and a double orientation that combines them. Around these the group runs specific programmes on osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia, back health, osteoporosis and chronic venous insufficiency, six-day preventive thermal weeks, and evening cures for people still working. The three active materials are the same across the whole station: Dax peloid, a fossil silt dug from the Adour flood plain and matured for six days with cultivated cyanobacteria before being delivered to each establishment in ten-kilo sacks, thermal water, and a pine-derived replacement for turpentine.

Thermes Adour states that it owns its waters and that only its Thermes des Arènes house takes thermal water from the Dax municipal utility, so the Chênes is on the group's own sources. The establishment publishes no pool count, no bathing temperature and no borehole data of its own. The 2026 season is the shortest of the four Dax houses: 18 February to 26 November, with treatments daily except Sunday, and on public holidays unless the holiday falls on a Sunday.
