Thermes Daxadour

Overview

Thermes Daxadour is one of the thermal establishments run by the Les Bains de Dax group in Dax, south-west France. Set on the banks of the river Adour, it presents itself as a modern, welcoming facility whose treatment rooms are lit by large windows looking out over the river. The centre operates each year from March to December and is dedicated to conventional, reimbursed thermal cures rather than to leisure bathing.

The thermal mud and water

At the heart of the cure is Dax's peloid, described by the establishment as a thermal mud unique in the world, made from the silt (limons) of the Adour, thermal water and micro-algae. It is applied warm, by hand, to the joints being treated. The peloid is combined with the town's thermal water and with hydrotherapy so as to relieve pain, ease the joints and restore everyday comfort.

Medical indications

Cures at Thermes Daxadour are offered in three orientations: rheumatology, phlebology and fibromyalgia. The establishment also caters for double-orientation cures and shorter mini-cures, with care personalised to each patient's condition.

Treatments

Care combines pelotherapy and hydrotherapy. Alongside the warm mud wraps, the establishment offers thermal showers, hot terebinth jets, full-body jet treatments, mobilisation and rehabilitation in the pool, a steam room (étuve) and physiotherapy. A conventional cure within the group includes eighteen mud applications, each involving fifteen minutes of treatment.

Facilities

The establishment is equipped with latest-generation technology and is certified to the Aquacert standard. Its human-scale treatment spaces benefit from natural daylight and open onto views of the Adour riverbanks.

Practical information

Thermes Daxadour is open annually from March to December (for the 2026 season, the group's cures run from 2 March to 28 November). Thermal cures continue to be reimbursed at 65% in 2026.
