The Valvital thermal spa of Saint-Lary-Soulan, in the Pyrenean Aure Valley, draws on the sulphured and sulphated waters of the Garet springs for 18-day medical cures in rheumatology and respiratory conditions, alongside the Sensoria Rio aqua-wellness space using thermal water at 32°C.

About

The Valvital thermal establishment at Saint-Lary-Soulan sits in the Parc Thermal of the Aure Valley, in the Pyrenees (65170 Saint-Lary-Soulan). It combines a conventional medical spa, with cures organised around two therapeutic orientations, and the Sensoria Rio aqua-wellness centre. The station is described as one of the more recent to be created in the Pyrenean chain, established at the end of the 1980s, drawing on waters the site says have been renowned since antiquity for their benefits.

Thermal water

The water is drawn from the Pyrenean springs of the Garet. According to the establishment it is weakly mineralised and both sulphured and sulphated. In the Sensoria Rio aqua-wellness space, this thermal water is used at 32°C.

Medical cures and indications

The station offers accredited 18-day thermal cures under two orientations, which can be taken singly or in combination: rheumatology (including arthritis, rheumatic joint conditions, fibromyalgia and post-traumatic sequelae) and respiratory/ENT pathways (including sinusitis, chronic rhinitis, asthma, chronic bronchitis and pharyngitis). Care during cures includes treatments based on thermal water vapour, thermal water showers, aerosols, respiratory re-education and treatment pools. Shorter mini-cures over 2 to 6 days are also offered.

Treatments and wellness

The thermal spa provides hot-water baths, hydromassage and micro-bubble baths, affusion showers, mud applications, mobilisation pools, chromotherapy, a hammam and a jacuzzi, together with massage and facial treatments. A fitness room and a rest area are available. The Sensoria Rio aqua-wellness space features two outdoor pools of 50 m² and 100 m² with views over the Pyrenees, equipped with whirlpools, geysers, bubble beds, massage jets and a jacuzzi. A chromotherapy room and premium relaxation options are also offered.

Access and season

The Sensoria Rio aqua-relaxation space admits visitors from 6 months of age, while institute treatments are from 16 years; children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. The thermal season runs from 30 March to 31 October 2026. The 2026 tariffs for the aqua-wellness space are stated as €19 (off-peak) or €21 (weekends and holidays) for adults, €12 or €15 for children aged 4–12, and €4 for toddlers aged 6 months to 3 years.
