Les Bains du Rocher

Les Bains du Rocher is a thermal wellness spa in Cauterets, in the French Pyrenees, on Avenue du Docteur Domer. It draws on naturally hot water that, according to the operator, rises from the Pyrenees at a temperature of 53-60°C and is cooled to roughly 33-35°C for its pools. The site describes this water as sulphurous and credits its curative qualities to that sulphurous composition and natural heat.

The establishment states that the water is naturally sulphurous and emerges hot from the mountain before being tempered for bathing. The main outdoor basin is described as holding water at 34°C.

Pools and bathing

The spa combines indoor and outdoor bathing. Indoor pools feature bubble beds ("lits à bulles") and swan-neck jets ("cols de cygne"). The outdoor basin, described as a lagoon of around 200 m² with views of the Pyrenees, offers whirlpool baths, bubble beds and a water current. Practical information

Opening hours vary by season. From 1 June to 12 July: Monday-Saturday 2:00 PM-7:30 PM, Sunday 10:00 AM-1:00 PM and 2:00 PM-6:00 PM. From 13 July to 30 August: daily 10:00 AM-1:00 PM and 2:00 PM-7:30 PM. From 31 August to 1 November: Monday-Saturday 2:00 PM-7:30 PM, Sunday 10:00 AM-1:00 PM and 2:00 PM-6:00 PM; a technical closure follows from 2 November until early December. For pool access, anti-slip flip-flops and bath towels are required, and men must wear boxer- or brief-style swimwear.
