A Bohemian spa whose 42 °C Pravřídlo spring feeds both its medical bathhouses and THERMALIUM, a public thermal bath in Lázně Beethoven with a 23×13 m healing pool at 35 °C, a 29 °C swimming pool and five saunas.

About

Lázně Teplice v Čechách is a certified medical spa in northern Bohemia built on a single thermal source, the Pravřídlo spring, which rises directly beneath the Lázně Beethoven building. The operator dates the spa to 1154, writing "Rok 1154: Královna Judita zakládá v Teplicích první české lázně" — Queen Judith founding the first Czech spa — and notes older use of the springs by Celts and Romans, whose votive coins and jewellery are kept in the Teplice museum, as well as Paracelsus placing Teplice among the ten most important spas of the world in 1539.

The water is described as a hydrogen-carbonate–sulphate–sodium type with an admixture of radon, rich in minerals and trace elements, rising from around a kilometre below the surface in a rhyolite volcanic massif. The operator gives its three therapeutic components as mineralisation (1,026 mg of dissolved solids per litre, with a raised fluoride content), natural radioactivity (Radium 226 at 0.086 Bq/l) and geothermal heat. The spring currently reaches 42 °C and its temperature is said to be slightly rising; it is monitored in a 51-metre-deep shaft as well as at further outlets of the thermal main. The published analysis lists among others sodium at 211.6 mg/l, hydrogen carbonate at 502 mg/l, sulphate at 132.6 mg/l, fluoride at 5.74 mg/l and free carbon dioxide at 78 mg/l. Pravřídlo flows to all the company's tubs, baths and pools at undiluted 100% concentration; individual thermal baths are set to 38 °C and the Císařská lázeň pool for guests of the Císařské lázně house is 36 °C.

THERMALIUM, on the first floor of Lázně Beethoven at Rooseveltova 2, is the part open to the general public every day and is described by the operator as the complex of the largest and warmest pools with purely thermal water in Bohemia. Entry to the pools includes the main healing bath at 35 °C — 23 by 13 metres, 1.3 m deep, with more than a hundred massage and rehabilitation elements — a thermal swimming pool at 29 °C measuring 20 by 6 metres and 1.5 m deep, and a Kneipp walkway alternating 40 °C and 10 °C, all filled with 100% Pravřídlo. A combined pool-and-sauna ticket adds five saunas: a Finnish sauna at 95 °C, a Finnish salt sauna at 90 °C, a tropical sauna at 40 °C with 20–40% humidity, a biosauna at 55 °C and a steam sauna at 40 °C with 100% humidity, which may be entered repeatedly within the purchased time. Pools are open 7:30–21:00 and saunas 10:00–21:00; on the first Tuesday of each month a sanitary day pushes opening to 12:00. Children are admitted from the age of 3 with an adult. The spa's medical work centres on the locomotor system — the operator names arthrosis, osteoporosis and back pain — with stays covered or part-covered by health insurance according to the Czech Ministry of Health indication list; contraindications published for THERMALIUM include acute febrile, inflammatory and infectious illness, pregnancy, immobility, non-healing skin defects and serious heart conditions.
