Erlebnisbad Oederan

The Erlebnisbad Oederan is the open-air pool of the small Saxon town of Oederan, run by the town itself on Hainichener Straße at the edge of the built-up area. It offers 1,340 square metres of water spread across three basins: a 420 m² sports and swimming pool with a one-metre and a three-metre diving board and 25-metre lanes, a 610 m² leisure pool, and a 110 m² paddling pool for small children. The leisure basin holds the attractions — a wild-water channel, a mushroom fountain, a round bubble bench, two whirlpool loungers, massage jets and floor bubblers — while two 70-metre slides run down into the water alongside.

Around the water lie 26,500 square metres of lawn shaded by trees, which is where much of the day is actually spent. The bath doubles as a small sports ground: a sand volleyball court, a football meadow with goals, outdoor table-tennis tables at the poolside, a minigolf course and an oversized outdoor chess board. Balls and sports equipment are lent out free of charge from the pool attendants' house, while loungers, chairs, parasols, minigolf clubs and table-tennis bats are hired for small sums against a deposit at the cash desk. A snack kiosk sells chips, ice cream and cold drinks, and visitors are also allowed to bring their own food.

Prices are set by the town and are unusually low: an adult day ticket costs 4 euro, a child or pupil 2 euro, a family card for two adults and up to four children 10 euro, and a season ticket 88 euro for adults. Cheaper tickets apply before 10:00 and after 17:00, holders of municipal social and family passes pay reduced rates, and children under four and accompanying carers enter free. There are 220 car parking spaces, 170 of them free, and 120 bicycle stands at the entrance.

As an unheated open-air bath the season runs roughly from mid-May to early September and depends on the weather: the operator closes on days when the average outdoor temperature is 16 °C or lower, or when several hours of rain are forecast, and posts such closures on a notice at the entrance rather than online.
